So, Overwatch 2 is having the phone requirement removed... if you've already played the original from 9Jun21 to now.

If you're a new player, or didn't happen to play the game in that timespan, you still have to hand over your personal information to a company who will treat it with all the care and respect of a rabid wolverine.

Technically league skins always had a unique currency, that's not an OW2 addition.

But hey at least you get your stuff from OW1, and a free battlepass too! Unless you dont. Which is the widespread experience of console players, finding OW1 gone and their shit with it.

Well at least we get to watch a decent cinematic while we wait for 6 months for this game to get good again.

How are they so good at cinematics but fail hard at the game part
For real. And this is the same world being shared by a sniper was tortured to become a heartless assassin, an old soldier answering his call despite being casted out, a cyborg ninja who've accepted for who he is and found inner peace, a re-activated war machine trying to figure out what side its on, and a young mech pilot who was robbed of her childhood to fight for her country.

It's just like Ubisoft; Interesting, sometimes downright amazing world and character building, but terrible in execution in terms of gameplay

Aw that was a fun short. I have less than zero interest for playing the game but I'm always game for their animations and even the overarching plot.

Now I am just going to be a dick about this but OW2 fumbling this hard is cathartic. I was expect some server issues and then get in a enjoy it for now and life goes on but holy shit. Every new thing of news its lie OW2 saw Fallout 76 and wanted to speed run on many fucks and stress test player goodwill it can do.

With that said .......BATTLEBORN WAS ROBBED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All those features that OW2 kept promising Battleborn had DAY 1 AND MOOOORRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

I enjoyed battleborn quite a bit with a group of friend, we ended up stopping cause there just wasn't enough population.

Wonder if they could bring it back as a "hey we have everything OW2 was supposed to have", maybe they'd be enough of a population to sustain it.

IDK, given how it was led by Randy Pitchford, I feel like the game would've failed one way or another

My carthasis was me hating Overwatch to begin with because I hated its Disney aestheric and tone.

I grew up with more gritty Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo era of Blizzard and thought Overwatch looked lame

The reason for the bright aesthetic was people were getting tired of "grim & gritty" to begin with, and had long overstayed its welcome. If the game was any more grim or started to do the brown and gray bullshit, then it would have just been another dank and dark ass shooter. As much as I didn't like the game being a shooter, I applauded for it's unique looking aesthetic. While OW does look a bit safe in some areas, it still had unique characters designs and world building. Like I said already a million times, this game should have been a brawler through and through.

There's a reason why the aesthetics caught on. It was something different from the time, and people moved on from the "mature" shooters. You can't be dark and grim all the time. Now dark and grim doesn't always mean you can't be colorful, but that's usually the correlation. With the way Activision and Blizzard has been acting, OverWatch 2 is (already) doomed if they don't do something of actual good use. I'm never touching this game, but I'll stick to either fan comics, fan art, and the official story trailers they have up on YouTube.
