Was that Prescott in COG armor? I thought he disappeared after giving his speech in the second game.
No, Prescott is probably responsible for for either creating the Lambent, the Locust, or the war with the Locust. And if he's not responsible, he knows that the C.O.G. government is. I looking forward to seeing how this story all wraps up. So many pieces of information, but there are still one or two key pieces that are missing in order to complete the mystery behind everything.

EDIT: Okay, based on my understanding of the song--it seems like it's about sending young people off to fight wars that they didn't start--then it could be a major clue as to the story behind the entire war with the Locust. See above statement.
Yeah, that's my read on it too. Rather, I think Adam Fenix was one of the scientists (maybe or maybe not the head one) from the facility in Gears 2 that created the Locust, but Prescott either ordered them created or somehow caused E-Day. We'll see.

(also, I love how so many people seemed to miss the fact that that facility was where the locust were created, but that's a whole other issue)
Finally, someone else who notices, and appreciates, the small details. While I disagree on the Locust being created at the facility (I think they were on Sera long before), I believe they were tested on in the facility. In order to make super-soldiers, the Sires, to fight the Locust. Or you could be right and the humans made the Locust, but then the question becomes why? Were they aware of the Lambent threat long before anyone else? Oh, I'm looking forward to this game.

Yeah, I always thought I was the only one who noticed. Anyway, that makes sense, but my read on it has always been that the Sires were a first attempt at making the Locust. As for why they would make the Locust, probably as super soldiers to fight in the Pendulum Wars. The Locust didn't like that idea though, and so we had E-Day. Now, there seems to be a connection between them and Adam, maybe he told them to rebel? We don't know enough.

Now, here's another idea. Before E-Day, humanity was split into all sorts of factions. Then, the Locust are created at a facility Prescott seemed to know about. Then the Locust attack and suddenly Prescott is in command of all of humanity. Food for thought.

There's a difference between understanding homophobic retards and playing that song to a gears game without the slightest hint of irony.
Don't you think you are taking it a bit too far? I mean I get why you consider it douchbaggy but why cannot people enjoy it like we enjoy a good camp film? I know a lot of people that will.

I liked it...it could have been better. The song works if you think about it. Since how the meta plot seems to be that Humans threw war have brought this on themselves. If that was their intent (I doubt it) it's clever. However I doubt that the Gears of War team is self aware enough to make that connection.

One problem with that. Prescott is only in charge because he had to nuke the rest of the planet with the Hammer of Dawn project.

Now what I'm really curious about here is that there are two books between Gears 2 and Gears 3 and in soon to be released book is about the dissolution of the COG and I think Prescott disappears during that book but reappears for Gears 3. Why he disappears and why I don't see or hear much of Hoffman could become interesting.

Also in the books it has been proven that even though everyone is dying and Humanity is a lost cause, Prescott is still withholding information.

That trailer is surprisingly bad. I know the others are completely bullshit in regards to the actual games but they're well made at least. In that the music doesn't work, and the actual footage doesn't build up properly or anything.
couldn't agree more... personally i would have used "Iron Heads" with rob zombie huhuhuhu

The thing that attracted me was 'Ozzy Osbourne.' Bad trailer, good at first but deteriorated.

The thing is, this is the same thing COD did with the Rolling Stones, and we had an influx of douchebags running around associating Gimme shelter with a game in which you slaughter eachother. The songs are meant to be used in the complete opposite way then they are being used and it sickens me, Whats next? 99 Red Balloons?
Take one down? Pass it around? 98 Red Balloons on the site? (/sarcasm)

Have to agree with Cannibal on this. Seriously, this trailer and RatM on the American version of Godzilla shows how disconnected from reality (or just desperate for turning a buck) the entertainment industry is. The music by itself is great, but it does not belong anywhere near this game. For any reason. Period.

I think the trailer was quite good, besides the fact that the tone doesn't fit with Gears because the trailers have always been somber such as "Mad World", "Last Day" and "Ashes". They all featured some kind of slow sad sounding song and no dialogue.

I have to disagree that the song shouldn't belong anywhere near this game for any reason.

Problem being is that the reasons lie within the books which only a small percentage of those playing the games would get. So there are reasons to do it just not very well known ones.

OK, I concede the point that if the message in the song were to be part of the plot, or perhaps a plot twist, then it would make sense to have it in there. Otherwise, playing an anti-war song in a game that not only revolves around war, but has it in the game's freaking title no less is quite tasteless and shows incompetence at an absurd level.

I wholeheartedly agree. It is tasteless if they aren't putting the song and clips together for the plot reasons.

Well, like a certain movie snob parodied in his review of the latest hyper-masculine crapfest that is the 'Fast and Furious' franchise:

Well yes you have a point there, but in all honesty, I could not care less about how such people are interpreting the meaning of the song.

I enjoyed Rolling Stones in CoD and that was only because I always thought of it as a pleasant tune, not because it spoke to me game-play wise. It's why whenever I play a multiplayer game I usualy just play my own music. Because it gets me in a good mood.

Anyway my brain is not working properly. Feel free to disregard what I said here when I go and grab some coffee.
