The thing is, this is the same thing COD did with the Rolling Stones, and we had an influx of douchebags running around associating Gimme shelter with a game in which you slaughter eachother. The songs are meant to be used in the complete opposite way then they are being used and it sickens me, Whats next? 99 Red Balloons?

Have to agree with Cannibal on this. Seriously, this trailer and RatM on the American version of Godzilla shows how disconnected from reality (or just desperate for turning a buck) the entertainment industry is. The music by itself is great, but it does not belong anywhere near this game. For any reason. Period.

I have to disagree that the song shouldn't belong anywhere near this game for any reason.

Problem being is that the reasons lie within the books which only a small percentage of those playing the games would get. So there are reasons to do it just not very well known ones.

OK, I concede the point that if the message in the song were to be part of the plot, or perhaps a plot twist, then it would make sense to have it in there. Otherwise, playing an anti-war song in a game that not only revolves around war, but has it in the game's freaking title no less is quite tasteless and shows incompetence at an absurd level.

Problem is you're judging a song by it's lyrics alone and the meaning to them.There's a general theme and that's war.So it's kinda relevant to the games it was put to.They also must have asked the author if they are allowed to have the song in their trailer/game.He agreed knowing what he wrote the song about.And do you know why?Because 5% already know the song and understand it.Another 20% tho will do a simple google search and find out they like the author in question and some of his other songs.Author get's more fans message gets spread.Everyone's happy.The rest may be douchebags but they'll grow up and they'll know 1 very cool song that's from an era way beyond their time which makes the game give a good reverance to the past.I like this trend, what I don't like is old fans of the authors being elitist douchebags more than the douchebags that got interested in the song because of a game trailer/game.

That trailer is surprisingly bad. I know the others are completely bullshit in regards to the actual games but they're well made at least. In that the music doesn't work, and the actual footage doesn't build up properly or anything.

Also, isn't War Pigs an ANTI-WAR protest song from the Vietnam era? Maybe it's meant to be ironic, or something, but I don't get it.

No one listens to anything but the chorus/song name. "War Pigs" sounds like something tough and manly until you understand that Sabbath were literally calling those who engage in wars pigs. Not many people will understand that second bit.

Same phenomenon happens when people sing "Born in the USA" by Springstein with devout, unironic patriotism.

Frankly, it won't matter. They could have used Nyan cat and not affected sales. People will still buy this.

To be honest, the entire Gears series is kind of my guilty pleasure, seeing as the plot isn't exactly...good, and the writing coud be better, but I just can't ressist it for some reason.

Since then the saddest song of the 21st century has become synominous with the most violent xbox game of the 21st century.

I agree. I liked the new trailer, just nowhere near as much as this one, or the one they released for Gears 2. They just felt... powerful. But, they made several for Gears 2, so I am hoping we get one similar to this before the release. It would just be.... perfect.

Either way, I am EXTREMELY excited about this game. I changed my preorder to the epic edition this weekend!
