Nice watchmen quote,makes you seem real bad-ass. The death penalty is stupid no matter how you spin it,it may be morally satisfying but that does not make it just. Saying that murder is wrong by killing the murder is retarded.

It's actually quite just, it's fair that a murderer be killed, if anything it's not enough punishment for the suffering that poor girl went through, they beat and raped her for four hours.

I understand people hating the death penalty, but these aren't people, no person would willingly do that to an innocent person, nobody plans for days or weeks to turture and rape a person, only an animal does that kind of thing.

1. Humans,and ALL self aware creatures are animals.
2. Killing someone is wrong,wether I do it,you do it,these sick fuckers do it or if the government does it.
3. Them dying in public in front of 6-9 people,will NEVER bring back that poor girl. What's done is done,it was wrong and we must evaluate,punish and isolate the guilty so it doesn't happen again.
Killing them is letting them off easy. Letting them rot for the rest of their lives,now that's punishment.

For the first point I'm sure you know what I meant, as for your other points, I guess I'm just old fashion, I prefer "eye for an eye" type justice, and yeah I know "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" but that's just how I think, besides I wouldn't want the decent, tax-paying Canadian to have to pay for those fuckers to sit around in a cell for the rest of their lives.

You don't want justice,you want revenge. For the family it's easy to understand why they want them dead,they lost a loved one. But you,you just want to see someone die because they did something wrong.

I'll tell you why the death penalty is the milder punishment. When these two,have reached their fifties,in one split second,they'll realize that they have wasted their ENTIRE life because of one thing that they did ages ago,and when that dawns on them,that's when they'll realize that they would be much better off dead.

You didn't really answer the question, but I understand your sentiment, honestly I believe there are only two things to do with criminals, if they can be reformed you put them to use, if not you put them down.

Sadly in Canada we will get bleeding heart lawyers, judges, and juries who will say that its not their fault and give em maybe 10 years in prison.

Because we dont have life sentences either, that is right those bastards could come out of jail any day really. Because in Canada no matter the crime you commit someone on CBC will cry for you and then you get slapped on the wrist.

I dont support the death sentence but those bastards should be stuffed into the deepest darkest cell and left there alone till the end of their days.

It really isnt. The world isnt black and white. A murder is not the same in every circumstance. If I was defending my loved ones from some rabid killer I would not hesitate in taking his life. This act would not cost me any bad conscience. And I do not think anyone doing something like this should be punished in the least. In a war, its kill or be killed. While I abhor war, I would go into it with the mindset that its me or them. I would expect to be killed and would defend myself accordingly.

The act of these two boys comes nowhere even close to anything I've mentioned. There is no justification for this. I do not wish the death penalty as a punishment for them, there is no worthy punishment. I do not wish it because I hate them, and I do not find it morally satisfying. I just think that we live in a society. And even if its values are not the same all over the world, there are a lot of similarities. These two have done something that is simply not defensible. It cannot be paid for with money or years spent behind bars. They have changed the world for the worse in the most horrible way. The only response I can think of is that acts like that are simply not welcome in ANY kind of circumstance or setting. They do not belong in society. They are a bad weed and should be plucked out. Simple as that. For some deeds there can be no redemption.

OT: Hopefully they'll get the maximum sentence. I'm guessing Canada is similar to Finland in that matter, so it won't be too much, say 20 years tops (12 years would be the maximum in Finland though).

I've read the full article. I see bullying, and innocence being embarrassingly devoured and destroyed at the hands of two greasy socially-rejected creatures that should have never been.
I haven't felt this way since I read "The Heart of Darkness".
I see myself. I see my life. I see a hideous reflection I want to smash into pieces. To me, this is a real horror story. This girl was so beautiful, innocent...

I demand the death penalty on this one. I've never believed in something irrational and cruel like this so strongly before. That I would be fine with being beaten, broken, humiliated, and insulted over this belief knowing there was a poor girl who suffered much worse. I rarely ever feel this sure of my humanity. I am actually upset.

I'm a Canadian, Albertan, and not even a conservative. I considered myself of a new intellectual internet age living in a time of peace.
But I want no counseling or rehab. This goes beyond sickness, an atrocity that (to me) transcends all murders and rape. I've been made a victim in reading this. I've never truly felt any moral or spiritual significance in anything before. it's fully made me from atheist to agnostic.

Though it often seems the death penalty is the worst punishment someone can receive, I actually think it is a lenient punishment for such a horrible crime. Give the kids a nice anything they want last meal, take an injection and they get the easy way out. I think they should be kept alive, suffer, and rot.
