Palin scares me something shocking.

As does Mcain... he is... evil.

I hope for the sake of the world Obama i elected... because the alternative is terrifying.

Seriously, what debate were the rest of you watching?

Biden talks about losing half his family during his first Christmas as a Senator and nobody here even comments on that.

Palin makes the biggest dog-whistle statement of the year and nobody even comments on that, either.

Well, I knew about that tragedy beforehand, but you do raise a good point. How many of you are aware that Biden was a widower? Or that he even brought it up during the debate?

No...it will be much worse. Obama is a communistic pig. He hates America. His friend, Faracone, who practically single-handedly financed him is an open terrorist! Let alone the fact that his pastor for 20 years hates white people, and wants this country to be destroyed! Open your eyes people, Barack Hussein Obama is the anti-christ, and will bring doom to us all, don't let the liberal media brainwash you into thinking he'll do anything. The "change" he preaches holds no good value to it realize that.
"Dont let the liberal media brainwash you"

Ah... the sweet and comforting sound of irony against the rocks.

I'm unable to comment on it, because here in the Netherlands, Obama is 10 times more in the news than McCain. I mean, the first time I heard McCain's name was when the news showed a clip from someone pissed at Obama for choosing Biden(however that happened, I didn't think it was important), declaring that she was going to vote for McCain. Before that "Obama week" or however it was called, the only thing that I know of that was shown of the other side, was a group of people setting up a small office to disprove comments about, from and for Obama.(I know Obama has such a team too, but it was never shown, we've only heard about the results of that team)

What I mean is, that even if we hear anything about it in one or two weeks and I would be able to make a more related post, most of it will be censored in a way that puts Obama as a "winner" in some debate he(probably) never appeared in.

Overall, I'd say that the debate was a draw. Palin scored points for not tripping up and that's it, while Biden did what everyone knew he would do. When it comes to who won on the merits, then Biden is the clear winner. His answers where more detailed and not as vague as Palin's were.

I didn't watch (I've taped it for my dad, so I might watch it then), but I'm still voting for Obama. I'm not too fond of conservatives, and "Drill baby drill!"?... Yeh, no.

some of us bitter people who cling to our guns and religion wont vote for obama because. We value individual freedom and responsibility over so called equality. We don't want to pay for your healthcare, we like our taxes low and our military strong, we would rather have a leader who cared more about what americans thought than what the world thought.

Yeah maverick is a bit of an overstatement maybe maverick applies for palin but not McCain the raging liberal typical politician he is.
O to have Romney or Jindal running for prez, it sucks that we put up such a weak candidate against someone who we should be able to walk all over(obama)

John McCain is a maverick! He's unstable, unpredictable, and constantly changing position.
Need proof?

Lighten up Nilcypher. I do care about who is elected. i jsut don't really care about Biden/Palin.

I will probably do another grassy knoll if McCain is elected. *Shudder with hate*

I Think Obama has the most chance though and Biden is more than capable.

Okay, now i'm jsut rambling
Don't kill McCain! He's the only one keeping Palin from holding back scientific development in America for decades to come, short of an Obama victory! I will not have a creationist country controlling world economics for another four or eight years!
I'll get Palin at the same time don't worry. I think a semi automatic sniper rifle would do the trick

*goes to barricade door in case the CIA are about to storm his house*

That's the thing though isn't it? There are a few hundred million Americans, so you end up thinking a lot of different things. I'm sure there are plenty of Americans who would welcome free healthcare and stricter gun control.

You can't opt out of the world, and you might not care what it thinks, but that doesn't mean that its opinions don't matter.

Watching it from down here, there was very little Biden could do to win. He had to spend more time watching the words he used so the republicans couldn't label him as sexist, that he couldn't have a genuine political debate. As for palin, sweet jesus america, wtf?

I honestly don't get the rabid hate that liberals have for Palin. "She scares me." "That woman should be shot." "She makes me so angry." I didn't know a Republican in a skirt could be so terrifying. Maybe it's all transference, maybe the one you really hate and mistrust is Tina Fey.
I hate Palin because yesterday her major speech was a big fucking dog whistle [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog-whistle_politics] about "world views" and "American exceptionalism" and a "city on the hill." This isn't just Reaganisms, it's a bunch of conservative evangelical code-speak.

I hate Palin because she doesn't care. Even the stupidest or least-educated candidate could achieve a pretty good understanding of major economic issues with a few weeks of preparation -- and Palin isn't really all that dumb. But if you look at her statements on bankruptcy, on foreclosures, on the bailout, it's clear she can't even be bothered to try to think anything through. She's content to just rattle off some non-sequitur and lay the "hockey mom" and "joe six-pack" on extra thick.

Of course, I don't say shit like "she should be shot" because I'm not a moody fourteen-year-old.

I couldn't believe how terrible Palin was. I lost count of how many times I yelled at the screen. I now am seriously afraid of what will happen if McCain wins. She's terrible.

That dog don't hunt.

You've thrown away your individual freedoms, sacrificing them on the altar of security by allowing Homeland Security a free pass around the guarantees offered by your own Constitution. Government in the US has never been so big as it is now, has never spent itself so deeply into debt (to foreign powers, no less) as now, has never overextended its military so badly as now (not even in WW2 or the late stages of Vietnam), or had leaders more out-of-touch with the average citizen despite the superficial attempts to be "one of the guys" as now.

And it may not matter to some Americans that their leader is held in the same contempt as Kim Jong-Il in many nations around the world, but I imagine it will matter to those who hold all that debt of yours... which means they will once that debt is called in.

Think carefully on what is important to America before voting; don't allow superficial trappings of patriotism distract you from taking a good, unflinching look at how your country is doing and what is needed to ensure its future prosperity.

What is with the U.S. and this town hall format. It is sooooooooo dull. After watching the Presidential debates, the VP Debates, and The Canadian Candidate debate I do have3 to say, Canadian political debates are off the hook when put up next to the boys and girls on the other side of the line.

The VP debate was better than the presidential debate, I think Biden should be the next U.S. president after taking it all in (and that is not me not realizing that Biden is a Obama's running mate, it is me saying that after watching the VP debate I think Obama is the weaker player of the two)

And to U.S. less town hall more head on head senatorial debate, it's more passionate.

Sarah Palin has failed to impress me from day one. She needs way too much coaching to not make a fool of herself in live discussions, which for me eliminates her as a diplomat, which is in my opinion one of the better roles for the vice president. She made an embarrassment of the entire republican party with her actual interview with Katie Couric. "I'll find some and get back to you" "Putin rears his head up" This isn't the kind of person who should be in the delicate and fast paced environment of global diplomacy.

At the debate itself, she lies about the general on the grounds statements on the surge tactic being used in afghanistan, (Gen David McKiernan NOT McClellan I should add) did not say the surge would work, he specifically said "The word I don't use for Afghanistan is 'surge'." She followed up shortly after by lying that Joe Biden "had supported John McCain's military strategies pretty adamantly until this race" whereas his voting record shows "Mr Biden opposed the surge - of which Mr McCain was a prominent proponent - long before the beginning of the presidential campaign, and maintained this position throughout the race" - BBC Fact Checker

John McCain might be a good president, he might not be, we disagree on reaganomics and a few other areas. I believe that the trickle down effect has been proven to fail pretty solidly. I see quite a few large hmos, insurance companies, oil companies, walmart, etc posting record profits and larger and larger salaries and bonuses to their ceo's and upper echelons, but offering less and less to the workers on the ground floor making it happen. I do believe that if the money is put in on the ground floor, the same people will still make money, but not through what in effect becomes indentured slavery.

Obama may not be perfect, but I've supported his run for president before it (officially?) started, back when I read Dreams from my Father and Soon after read The Audacity of Hope. He is now the countries best hope at being respected on the global stage, and not imploding from the arrogance and disrespect we've shown for international law of late.

One Last thought, is that we need some better moderators. Neither at this debate or the first presidential debate did the moderator force the candidate to answer questions, or ask follow up questions. A very poor showing that.
