Now I am not a Paranoid person but doing this freaks me out. You see behind me is a window and its dark out.

I have no clue what your situation is but try this. Don't look behind you, do everything in your power not to look behind you. Try and do it for as long as you can. I cave under pressure after 2 minutes. I feel like that is the moment in which the crazy hobo on fire with a chainsaw will kill me.

I know the escapist probably has more of a spine than I do but I want to see if anyone else is that paranoid.

I am very paranoid.
Seriously.
My back is against a couch, but there's still a small area behind the couch.
Because of that small area, I occasionally look behind me for killers.
Or clowns.
Or KILLER KLOWNS.

it's not terribly difficult because there's a door to the balcony behind me that's blocked off by a heavy drawyer.

sorry that's probably not adding much to the discussion.

....I'm not going to rant about the title, because paranoai sounds like a cool word...

OT: I tried it, but failed... I thought the badgers in the doorway would eat my horse...

Yeah, I looked behind me. Do I need to spell out the psychology involved? Fine:

You provide is with an action we try to avoid, yet humnan nature dictates to defy guidelines set to us, so most people will eventually look behind them. Also, sheer curiosity makes a person want to check if there is anything behind them. Simple.

I should do this for a living.

Oh, and you spelled Paranoia wrong...

There is actually a wall behind me right now, so I'll probably be good for another hour or so.

As soon as I go downstairs to get a drink, though, I will be looking behind me every five seconds.
But I kinda do that anyway, so... yeah.
I'm pretty paranoid, I guess.

I think that I have true blue paranoia, I'm always expecting that the worst thing could happen to me at any possible moment.

My flat is on the first (what you Americans would call second) floor so there's definitely nobody at the window. Also, all my housemates are out and there's not been a sound outside of this room for hours. Nice try.

There's a wall behind me, too, so... yeah.

Although I get pretty paranoid in the dark, all my senses go into hyperdrive.

There's a wall behind me...

I am way too paranoid. I'm always looking over my shoulder to see if anyone's behind me, and in the dark I can barely move without thinking there's something waiting to jump out and kill me. I also always check the shower curtain to make sure no one's hiding behind it.

Might those Killer Clowns be from outer space?

I have only the tiniest streak of paranoia. Like last night I was working on top of a mountain in the middle of the night. The elevation usually puts me between two cloud layers. However last night the clouds where whipping over the peak. Combined with the wind, the sound of the generator running. I kept hearing what I swear was a person shouting.

Wait, thats just hearing things. But it did give me a healthy level of paranoia after that, cause I stopped wearing my ear buds so I could hear things better.

Oh and I can see how people could think there was such a think as will-o'the-wisps you should see how the fog moving on a rapid wind does neat things with the a strong nondirectional light source.

I'm going to forget about it. But I really really want to, now. Not because I want to see what's out there, but because you told me not to.

I'm typically mildly paranoid, but sometimes for some reason my adrenaline will jack up into overdrive in the middle of the night and I can't do anything but run around turning on lights :p. I was also really paranoid after the "This Man" thread.

Well then, you DO have to worry. If anyone is after you, it'll be ninjas that don't make a sound.
