The new thread saying that Modern Warfare 2 is not having party chat is getting a lot of responses. So this thread was born to talk about party chat in general and whether it's good or bad they took it away.

Firstly, I couldn't be happier that they took it away in this game, I feel that in all games it should be taken away while playing in online matches. This is a problem in a lot of games, particularly gears of war, the fact that people no longer use game chat and instead just hang out in parties. Now don't even tell me that while playing with your friends in a party you never said "hes up there at the tower" or something because if so you are lieing. In parties it takes away the whole concept of when theres 2 people left because both teams know exactly where the other is and what he is doing. IT'S CHEATING in short.

I've now for Modern Warfare 2 complaints. Am I the only one who knows about this magical thing called game chat? I also know about another thing, PRIVATE CHAT you know that thing that we use to use before we had parties to talk to your friends?

Another complaint is the fact that you will now be mixed in with the other players (IW HOW COULD YOU). And you point out that there is a lot of people who are annoying 13 year olds or "way to into it" older people. Now again, a lot of people also missed out on another wonderful feature of xbox live: MUTE.

EDIT: I would also like to add that you do not need to be chatting to your friends 24/7 and if you do then try a phone. OR Hell even play a game with your friends, wouldn't that be amazing, you know, playing instead of talking with your friends?

Now go for it, state your opinion on this.

EDIT: PLEASE READ IF YOU HAVE ALREADY READ THE TOPIC:what if we could compromise? what if IW could make it so that you can only have people not playing cod in your party? because if they are playing cod then you might as well just not be in the party, how about it?

Most people like to speak to friends without outside interference.
And at my last check, private chat takes only 1 to 1 chat, but as I said, that was my understanding of my last LIVE play which was about a month ago.

I use party chat all the time.
I will be extremely pissed if there isnt party chat in MW2. I'm not sure how you can take away a function of XBL that I pay for.

Just don't have a stupid perk like eavesdrop. Its not like anyone does anything else but ***** anyway.

I use party too, although it will be impossible on the XBL version, since party chat is it's own separate thing on xbox which actually mutes your mic in the game.

I do agree though, it is annoying when your on a team with one or two guys who just wont communicate at all.
but most of the time (on XBL) They will invite their teammates to the party (which actually helps you meet new people)

edit: as for the annoying kids, there is always a mute button that only takes a second to do, do it inbetween deaths.

Party Chat is pretty useful. But other times, team chat does just fine, and you get to hear the other people and know what they are doing

That's is just asking for trouble, buddy. And yes, maybe I need to calm down, but TBH, I'm a little tired, a little cranky and in no mood to see a flame war spring up and you two get banned.

I like it. I fail to see how it's cheating.

Then again, I don't play on games where it's very significant. AdventureQuestWorlds has it, and it's just a nice way to talk to friends from different rooms, and when we're in the same room it stops people intruding on the conversation. This rarely relates to the actual game.

Then again, most of the time, it's because I'm playing Team Deathmatch, and am therefore able to say that even in normal, non-party chat. In parties it takes away the whole concept of when theres 2 people left because both teams know exactly where the other is and what he is doing. IT'S CHEATING in short.Again, only a problem in Gears. Even in Search and Destroy (the only game besides Cage Match (which doesn't allow specators) that can be 1 v 1), you can only see what the surviving members of your team see, unlike the ghost cam in Gears

I also know about another thing, PRIVATE CHAT you know that thing that we use to use before we had parties to talk to your friends? That's only for talking with one other people, whereas I routinely talk to around 5 at any one time in a Party.

OR Hell even play a game with your friends, wouldn't that be amazing, you know, playing instead of talking with your friends? So, you want me to force my friends to play MW2 just so I can talk to them, even if they'd rather play something else? What about the friends that don't have the game?

I thought that saying where the enemy is was allowed. Anyone can use it. And no, I almost never use it. But that's my decision. I get killed by enemies using PC, but I don't care much because I chose not to use it.
Edit: without PC, how will everyone on my team know my favorite music? Or that I have my mic too close to my ears? Or that I'm still in elementary school and have a grating voice?

THANK YOU. It seems that people are just making petitions about everything they can find.

Usually, I'd agree with this sentiment, but this is going too far. I pay Sixty some-odd dollars a year to Microsoft to, among other things, allow me to use Party Chat to talk to friends playing other games. No third party should be able to take that away, especially when they claim "it's to stop cheating" when no one cheats that way (see above to see what I mean).

Agreed. Hell, I use it because it provides privacy for me and my friends. Most of the time the other people on my teams either don't listen to what is said, or just scream into the mic. At least party chat makes it so me and my friends can concentrate on the game, while also talking casually with each other.

I missed this point my first time around, I'll address it now. So, we "don't need" to be be talking to our friends 24/7, eh? Two things:
1)Who are you to say what we need? For many people, myself included, talking with friends is THE most enjoyable part of XBL
2)Even if we didn't "need" it, it's a feature we pay good money for, and no third party should be able to take that away.

Heck, I thought discussing the game being played was the entire purpose of Party Chat. I mean, you get with a group of friends, you all hop on the same game, you talk tactics. It just makes sense, that's what I thought it was there for.

I dunno. I hate to side with petitioners on anything, but I think they've got a valid point this time. Taking way the ability to stay in a party while you're in a game was kind of a dick move.

Then again, so was leaving a six-player lobby mode out of Street Fighter IV, a feature that's arguably as important to the fighting game scene as party chat is to the FPS scene, but I didn't break down and cry about it.
