I'm not proud to be Irish because i associate patriotism with the IRA and UVF and the murders and troubles and the civil war and the war of independence. In fact i view all Irish history from Easter 1916 onwards as being a huge mistake.

We also gave the world Bono and for that I apoligise on behalf of Ireland.

I'm proud to be an American.

We gave the world personal computers and video games, the raison d'etre of this site. We put the beat down on the Evil Empires in World War II, and kept another in check during the Cold War. We've been the shining symbol of freedom and prosperity to the whole world, even if we haven't always lived up to it in practice.

I'm proud to be English, as on the douche-factor of the entire world, we only rate about a 6/10. Most countries get about an 8.

(Yes, the douche-factor is actually my brain.)

We're only beaten by Belgium.

I was born in Britain, I'm half Scottish, and love Ireland and Australia. I don't think that counts as patriotism, though...

We were never a part of Norway we were two nations under one king. Besides long before that happened we had discovered America and also we had a habit of killing your royalties.

Personally I'm proud to be British because of some of the great people this country has made, like William Shakespeare, Isaac Newton, Richard the Lionheart and Winston Churchill.

I don't believe in Patriotism, I don't think it's logical to take pide in the achievments of others as your own.

i like america.

I'm glad im not european, as your birthrates are so low that in 100 years the cultures will be essentially displaced by immigrating (and rapidly reproducing) folks from muslim societies. The germans have realized they'll be an islamic republic by the 2050s.

America isn't much better, we have about 2.11 children per couple, which is the bare minimum for sustaining a culture. NEED MORE IMMIGRATION HERE PEOPLE, LATINOS, COME ONE, COME ALL!

You know, come to think of it. I know I posted a whole Pro-Canadian rant in here earlier. But now I realize it's not so much being part of a country that I'm proud of, as being part of a culture.

And before anyone says anything, the two are very different.
