Heres a few I've thourght of getting but still can't decide

Halo 1 or 2 hmm mabye not
Fable only really heard how overated it was
Oblivion not such a fan of high fantasy, especially with the mechanics of fallout 3
Darksiders- a little expensive for me right now
The witcher I get the impression its a little mysoginist (more than usual )
there are few older titles I wanna get but am havign trouble finding

Anyway I welcome any sugestions, and resons why those games are good, I will play most genres also weather or not I shoudl get the games listed above

I also have a Ps2 so any sugestions for that are welcome too

EDIT: I actually do have deus ex and yes it is amazing, though there somthing about the graphics that creep me out, I think they bring back childhood memories of watching violent videogames and getting nightmares....

Left 4 Dead 2 is always fun...though personally I recommend playing it with a controller. I find it easier myself.

Judging by your list, sounds like you like a fair bit of RPGs. I'd definitely recommend The Witcher, very mature, not your typical high fantasy, and the story/storytelling is amazing. I'd recommend getting the Enhanced Edition of the game.

I'd recommend you don't bother with Halo games on the pc - there's much better available. FPS recommendations would be: Tribes: Vengeance (great space-opera style game, Crysis (it's actually a great game under all the graphics hype), Call of Duty 2 and World at War (personal preference, other will tell you to get Modern Warfare) and Rainbow 6: Vegas. Star Wars Republic Commando is also pretty good, although I hate all of the weapons in it. You may wnt to look in to Stalker - Shadow of Chernobyl or Call of Pripyat. They're pretty hardcore games and are beset after some modding, but many people love them.

RPG - The Witcher is damn good although drags a little in places. Oblivion is worth it just for the amount of mods out there allowing you to mess around with the game. If you don't mind going older then Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment are a couple of classics, and Neverwinter Nights 2 (especially its add-on Mask of the Betrayer) is also a lot of fun. These games (especially Torment) have great epic storylines, 100+ hours of gameplay, evocative characters, and far more depth than modern RPGs can manage. Jade Empire is a great little RPG from Bioware that's also worth checking out. It's a bit different and more is required of you in the combat, but the unique setting make up for any shortcomings it has. Fable is good fun so I'd recommend you do pick that up. It should also be really cheap. If you don't mind an RPG/RTS then Spellforce 2 is a great game to play. Not so heavy on character depth but an epic story and fun, addictive gameplay.

I could go on, but that's probably enough for now.

L4D with a controller? ....No. You go home now.

PC games i'd suggest though:

Rome and Medieval Total War.
Mechwarrior 4
Painkiller
Sacred 1 and 2
World in Conflict
and Star Trek Bridge Commander. (Really. Why not?)

I've had endless amounts of fun with all of them :D

I wouldn't recommend Halo for the PC. I've tried it, and it feels "wrong." Maybe it's because I've played it on the Xbox for years, or perhaps the basic mechanics of the game tend to cater more towards a controller. I haven't played Fable on the PC, but I own the Xbox version. I don't think it's quite as bad as some people make it. Perhaps it's because I didn't really follow the game during its development, so I wasn't keyed up on the hype machine and went in with more reasonable expectations.

I was disappointed with Oblivion. Most of my complaints about it are summed up in the Zero Punctuation review, with its total lack of immersion via copy-paste environments, mostly generic enemies, and the fact that there were a total of three or four voice actors for the hundreds of NPCs. Worse still, enemies level with you, making it seem like you aren't getting any stronger. It also further compounds the immersion issue when you're accosted by a highway robber that's garbed not in the leather or crude iron you would expect from a brigand, but instead is decked out in ebony or daedric gear! Morrowind is, in my opinion, much better, despite its boring combat.

Never played Darksiders or the Witcher, so I can't offer any opinions on those.

It seems you tend to play action or FPS games with some degree of exploration and RPG-esque character development. If you don't mind RTS games, might I suggest the Dawn of War series? The first game and its expansions, while not graphically jaw-dropping anymore, still offer solid RTS actions without getting mired too much in some common pitfalls of other games in the genre. Dawn of War 2 forgoes the typical RTS formula even more, eschewing base building for unit production and commanding squads into pulse-pounding action. In campaign mode, your squads level up, allowing you to pick what abilities and gear you want them to use in future missions.

Really? Blah! I hate playing with someone using a controller, they almost always are way to slow for the rest of the group and their reaction time is shit all compared to everyone else.

OP: see Spitting Bloods post nothing else really to add from that.

Along with what everyone else has recommended in this thread, I'll suggest Cryostasis. It's only £10 on Steam, and it's pretty good.

Deus Ex on steam.

Yes, it is 10 years old.
Yes, it looks like it's 10 years old.
Yes, it is much better than most modern games.
Yes, it is worth the tiny price tag on steam.

I'm always surprised by the number of people in PC vs. Console threads who say they'd play on a PC but they prefer a gamepad so use a console.

OT: Don't buy Fable, don't by Halo.

Crysis makes for an excellent pseudo non-linear game, and whilst the story's a bit lacklustre it's far better than anyone gives it credit for; just like with people, if you're pretty you're instantaneously deemed shallow. The set-pieces are incredible and the more open sections allow a great variety in how you approach objectives.

Naturally you should also buy Mafia, possibly Mafia 2, definitely PoP: Sands of Time and definitely KotOR.

I wouldn't go with any of your posted ideas.

I will always recommend Mount & Blade: Warband, it's great fun and has sweet mods. Good online too.

Edit: Also the first two Monkey Island remakes on steam. :)

Go with the Witcher, it's great and not really all that sexist. Geralt just has sex with a lot of women, but it's not like they're portrayed as lesser beings or anything.
