Go with the Witcher, it's great and not really all that sexist. Geralt just has sex with a lot of women, but it's not like they're portrayed as lesser beings or anything.
Yeah, every time I hear 'sexist' and 'The Witcher' together, I feel like kicking a baby rabbit or something.

Killing Floor and Alien Swarm are pretty good and don't cost a lot (Alien Swarm is free)

You have the Orange box, so I assume you've played Portal. Portal 2 will be released in February 9 and so far it looks amazing and if you've liked Portal 1 you should really get this one.

*standard OJN game recommendation, coming riiiight up*

Homeworld.

The single best RTS (and, IMO, game) of all time. 11 years old, but the only thing that's aged is the graphics.

A whole slew of my fanboyish reasons for choosing the pure awesomness of Homeworld can be found here:

Other than Homeworld, the Mass Effect games are pretty good on the 360, I can't imagine they'd get any worse on PC. Same for Halo 2 (and the guy who said you should buy Call of Duty instead - not gonna name any names, you know who you are - well... catch fire and die, please). Dunno about Halo: CE, I haven't had the fortune of playing it yet.

Besides, most of it is completely optional.

Deus Ex is also defenatly worth taking a look at, it is the best PC game ever.

get the witcher. i liked it. it had a good story and the consequences for you actions show up 2 hours later so you cant just reload a saved game.

i also like the combat system and the alchemy system.

Crysis makes for an excellent pseudo non-linear game, and whilst the story's a bit lacklustre it's far better than anyone gives it credit for; just like with people, if you're pretty you're instantaneously deemed shallow.
You do realise it was specifically Crysis and Doom 3 that codified that saying, don't you? And with good reason. Besides, she's played Far Cry 2 so she won't find anything better in Crysis...

If you want tropical jungle mayhem just get Just Cause 2. It will have something in it to entertain you until the day you die.

Depends on what you want from it.

The first thing to know is that despite the open-world, it's not a sandbox like GTA and there's no real interest in allowing the player to branch from the storyline. You can, but I doubt you'll find yourself wanting too.

The acting is astounding, it looks great on even an average rig, the gunplay feels weighty and solid and the driving on simulation is great.

My real issue with the game is that it starts far stronger then it ends, and they seemed to get so trigger happy with cutting stuff they couldn't get to work that you don't get to know some of the characters anywhere near as well as you should.

Still, I really enjoyed it (as my 52 hours of game time on Steam should tell you...) and would still thoroughly recommend it, if only because there's nothing else quite like it on the market.

I'd play on hard first, and depending on how you play you'll get anywhere from 10-15 hours on that difficulty.

PLanescape Torment from GOG.com is only 9.99. Its one of the best story RPG ever and is still tons of fun to play.

I was so pissed for years that I bought the game and somehow it disappeared, now for 10 bucks I can download it and its been enhanced to work on all new OS's. Yes the game is from 1999, but its well worth it.

Yeah your probably right, by sexist I ment games that are like "OOHHHH LOOK BOOOOOOOOOOOOBS!!!!" But most title's are a little more mature than that anyway and they are video games so its kinda silly of me to complain

Metacritic doesn't really prove anything (although I would agree that Crysis is far better).
