Morrowind/Oblivion
This. Oblivion especially. That game has endless possibilities on PC, what with the countless mods out there. Same with Fallout 3.
pity about the core gameplay, or lack thereof...

Haven't played Oblivion, have played vanilla Fallout 3. And it's awesome.
Fallout 3 and skyNET are the only decent games they've ever developed.
Avoid Oblivion like the plague. If you loved Fallout 3, you will hate Elder Scrolls IV.

And if you liked Morrowind, avoid it even more. Oblivion is, without doubt, the worst RPG I've ever played.

Fallout 3, on the other hand, is pretty damn good.
Buy STALKER. That's not up for debate, just buy it. Both games. Hell, they're on sale on steam, so you have no excuse not to.
Mount & Blade is good if you want an RPG that leans to the realistic side.
Prey if you're looking for a wonderfully insane FPS.
And Supreme Commander- Giant robots go STOMP STOMP STOMP

There are legions of good PC exclusives, which genres do you prefer? Now is the time to buy, Steam has huge deals on.
This - be wary of it though; I've bought alot of crap I'll probably never play because it was only £5 or something ;) (about $7.5-$10)

I though Oblivion was alright; it had its problems, but what doesn't?

STALKER was 'meh' at best, but at its current sale price, worth going for probably. And Prey was generic in its gameplay, though it was a pretty unique story.

Is Oblivion anything like Morrowind? I played it ages ago and liked it.
Actually I just liked taking over all the guilds, randomly killing guards and exploring to find more people to kill, treasure to steal... Apparently Oblivion added horses which would make it even easier to explore, which means more people to waste with customized fireballs and levitate spells. :D

anything from valve, they may be dicks but they know how to make a pc game
How are they dicks? Adding over 2gigs of free content to TF2 and adding free DLC packs to L4d and L4d2 while putting their games for 80% off multiple times a year sure is dickish (I know I sound like a fanboy now)

Agreed...Ok, to there console fans, they are somewhat dicks, but to PC gamers, they aren't. And given most other studios are dicks to there PC fans these days, I see that as a fair exchange.

If ye like ye olde real timm strategyhh, I says pick up Stronghold Crusader. It's old as hell, and just as ugly, but pure platinum inside. Search Google, you should find it for around 10 bucks.

And if you haven't played it, I'd also suggest Mirror's Edge. It's short and a little repetitive, but plays fantastically on a keyboard. It's at gamestop for a few bucks.

Ohh, and The Orange Box.

meh? meh? WHAT.

STALKER was atmospheric, pretty, had just enough RPG bits that it still felt like a shooter while letting you improve and the quaint translation errors just added to the fun.

And I said Prey because of the story. Weapons are fun, too- like fleshy versions of the standard FPS weapons. THIS IS FUCKED UP. NO THIS IS EVEN MORE FUCKED UP. FUCKFUCKFUCK YOU ALIENS.

No, if you liked Morrowind then Oblivion will feel like dumbed down uninteresting shit.
(No Medium armour skill, no short/long blade skills, no axe skill, no choice of enchantement type- all amulets are constant effect, all weapons are cast on strike, no choice of enchantment strength- all weapons can take the same enchantment strength. All items are leveled, so any quests you do give better rewards at higher level, despite supposedly being the same item, and by level 20-something all bandits are wearing daedric armour. You're pretty much fucked if you chose to concentrate on non-combat skills.)

Oh, and there is no Levitate spell. It's gone, completely.

...
It was fine till the no Levitate bit.. That's just killing the game!!

Makes it really annoying anyway.

And daedric armor at 20? o.0 *sighs* A successor to Morrowind that was better graphically, performance wise, with more options sounded awesome. A console port is lame..

Heh. Stalker is 1.45USD. Who wouldn't buy that? It's a critically acclaimed game at a really low price.

Supreme Commander has a pretty big learning curve for most people.. Fun, nukes are realistic. :D

Off topic, SC2 is apparently taking out worker units, you'll just get a certain allocation of resources every x period of time. Is that a good or bad thing?

I started playing red faction guerrilla because it is only $10 on steam right now and it is alot better than i expected so i recommend that.
Yea, I did too. It really is pretty awesome. Kinda silly how everything just falls apart, but man it is satisfying nonetheless.
