how ever Im not sure how easy porting is I mean why dont we have red dead redemption or gears of war 2? priacy?
Well, Microsoft is going to take its sweet time to port gears of war. They sell the console and the game after all and they wont have anyone thinking "hey i'll just have to wait for a couple of months and then i can play the game on my PC and wont need to buy an Xbox!"
As for Red dead Redemption, Rockstar sure did a shitty job with the port of GTA4. And it has drm up the posterior.
Normally, i'd recommend getting the PC Version for most games if you can get it.
I may talk a lot about PC gaming being not *that* hard and inaccessible. Building and installing stuff isn't as hard as it used to be.
But to get GTA 4 running decently, you need to jump through several hoops. Rockstar really dropped the ball on that one.
Maybe they wont port red dead redemption because they are so paranoid. The DRM did nothing except annoy People who bought or rented the game (really really annoying) and was a ***** to get off my system. I experiment with Viruses and most of them are easier to remove then GTA 4 and all the software that comes with it.
Maybe the sales for GTA4 where lackluster. I could understand that after several warnings of this drm. Of course, Rockstar will blame it on the pirates.
Now, DRM would be a big fat target for anyone claiming that PC gaming is going to die. Counterargument would be that most DRM is useless and doesn't do anything at all. Wait a week or so and someone will have made a tool to get rid of it.
