He's right about murder being normalized. No one even shrugs at murder scenes in movies/games.

Murder is a worse crime than rape, after all.
I put them in same sort of range. Murder is horrific, but so is rape and some rape victims end up killing themselves. To which then I would hope that the rapist would be charged with murder by proxy.

I wouldn't say one is worse than the other since they're both horrific and leave life long emotional scars.

I'm stunned at this topic. Sisterblue literally reversed the argument Penn was making.
"Blaming the game instead of the person normalises sexual violence."
to
"Rape is bad. Not blaming the game normalises sexual violence."

-_- Ladies and gentleman we have a clear misandrist amongst out midst. Wouldn't want to let loose our deep seated desire to rape everything we see held back only by a loose social stigma.

That's debatable. It would really depend on other factors. I would think someone being killed would have a broader impact on family and friends.

I know this is old news but : When I tried to watch the video it says:
'This video contains content from Sony Pictures, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.'
Is anyone else getting this or is this just Australian Censorship ftl

Hello? Can't you read? This is an international group, with an international policy board, working with Japanese partners on this campaign. If you are interested in getting your facts straight, you might want to read the relevant information on their website instead up jumping up and down and whining like little kids whose candy is going to be taken away. You can say that murder is worse than rape all you want and it won't make it true. Matter of fact it shouldn't be surprising that men would think that - another way that western society has normalized sexual violence and exploitation. It's no better than the cultures that consider women as chattel. It's all on the same continuum. You better hope it never happens to you or anyone you love, or any child of yours. Rape I mean. Sexual violence of any kind is the worst act humankind has come up with to date.
Flaming. Stop it.

They're banning the game to stop audiences from seeing it in the first place. It ELIMINATES the "excuse". These are two different things entirely.
I understand your logic, but I find it inherently flawed. Humanity, by its very nature, is a curious race. We like to explore and find things out. By "hiding" rape like this, it makes it less known, so that when people DO find out about it, they'll be naturally compelled to find out more about it. We call this "morbid curiosity". The fact that it's so hush-hush, can only lead people to believe " It can't be as bad as they say. People exaggerate stuff all the time!" And then they'll be tempted to commit the crime. The best way to prevent rape, is to make it known what it is, and to clearly show the pain and trauma that victims go through. I believe in the inherent goodness of humanity, and most sane humans will be revolted and depressed by seeing just how horrible a crime rape really is, thus preventing most of it. You can't prevent all rape, or any crime. It's the nature of probability. SOMEONE will be deranged enough to do it, no matter how much education or hiding is done. Educaiton is the best way to reduce the crime's occurrence to as low as possible, though.
