Okay, okay, yes, these people are ignorant. But to be fair, we're on a gaming website, and I assume for the most part we watch internet news outlets. We know about SOPA because we are the people who are going to be affected by it. People who only get on the internet to do some stupid shit (while in and of itself such a waste) of course won't know about it, and it's not entirely their fault.

Except for the part where Wikipedia's home page explains all this. All of these people are either willfully ignorant or trolls.

Poe's Law exists for a reason. While they may not be serious, we had thousands upon thousands of people who blamed Obama for creating a recession that preceded his presidency.

It's not surprising. Back in my day, people just copied from an encyclopedia wholesale as well. Be it a physical one or on CD-ROM. Laziness evolved.

Wait, didn't Obama promise to veto the Bill and then just sat back and did nothing to oppose it? So in a way aren't they correct, it is Obama's fault SOPA has gotten this far because he hasn't opposed or stopped it?

You know, it was (largely) his opposition that caused the bill to be altered and shelved a couple of days ago. While he hasn't "done anything" in the whole of two days, it's hardly in his court right now.

Obama as the head of the nation has a responsibility to make sure stupid arse things that are so obviously violations of the constitution don't get passed and to speak out against them. Cept he is as corrupt as the rest of them so never hold your breath for any of them to actually do their job and not sell you out to whatever company wants a monopolistic advantage that day.

Anyone remember that ship they won't stop talking about in the news. How the captain of said ship is now in trouble. Same concept!

Except Obama did speak out against it. So is your argument "Obama is corrupt and won't speak out against this thing he's spoken out against, and since he won't speak out against this thing he's spoken out against he should be held accountable for it?"

2) Click the "Learn More" link
3) Follow Wikipedia's own instructions on how to evade their blackout

(Didn't the President say or otherwise indicate that he would veto SOPA? Wouldn't that make all these blackouts very explicitly not his fault?)
