its hilarious because it's true. Seriously, what is wrong with people? In the last few weeks my eyes have been opened to how absolutely crazy our government and its citizens are.

Did you know that privatized jails are the number one growing industry in America. And that basically people have found away to make money by keeping people locked up. AND that the prison guard unions for these things have well funded lobbyist pushing for longer prison sentences for minor offenses so that they can keep people locked up for longer.

(also for instance we lock up about 750 people per 100,000 in the US. Basically we have 5% of the world population and 25% of the world prison population)

So you might be wondering why I'm bringing this up. My thought process is this, why are these people not locked up. They are seriously so stupid its criminal. *rim shot*

I think what irks me the most is people who do know what SOPA is calling Wikipedia and Google "selfish" for shutting down. Yes, exercising the ability to protest and strike, our one really legitimate weapon to influence the government in defense of free-speech mildly impacts on your ability to access a few websites for one day, and the websites are the selfish ones?

Yeah, being unable to Google song lyrics or look up wiki pages for one day is totally worse than having your right to free speech fundamentally altered and potentially having all these websites including Wikipedia permanently shut down or repeatedly threatened with lawsuits to the point where it may as well be shut down.

as a side note im wondering how many people have used a wiki with troll comments for a school project not knowing enough history to know that churchill and hilter didnt invade russia together

My friend in high school used to troll wikipedia pages that our entire class had to write a paper on. We had one class period to use the computer labs and my friend switched the wikipedia page on "Stem cell reasearch" to "Brains taste fine and dandy", with all the vital information deleted. Chaos ensued and the computer labs were full of profanity that day.

Which is hilarious, because all they had to do was click two buttons to see what it looked like before he vandalized it. One more click, and they could actually revert it. Your classmates weren't very tech savvy, were they?

It's kinda sad how many of these people seem to depend on Wikipedia to do their homework.

Back in High School, my teachers actually discouraged using Wikipedia for research assignments and told us to actually find reliable sources.

Wikipedia is down --> Look up why Wikipedia is down on Wikipedia.

They're just looking for someone to blame for the blackout. Some direct it at SOPA supporters, some at Obama, others at Wikipedia itself. Doesn't surprise me that some people would lash out in frustration.
