I understand completely. People with no sense of humour are the worst, because by default they take everything far too seriously. There are lots of types of humourless people; people who can never be the butt of a joke, people who can never just appreciate a good pun (or a bad one, for that matter), people who just don't understand jokes, et cetera. Like you said, it is just not possible to properly communicate with people when everything you say is laced with humour that they cannot pick up on.
