Oh, yeah, that's right. PETA doesn't care about people.
And juvenile diabetes advocacy groups don't care about spousal abuse? There are already institutions in place that deal with humans who victimize other humans. PETA's got its own mandate. The institution is built to campaign for animal rights.
The ACLU does its thing.
MADD does its thing.
The frigging NRA does its thing.
Why do we have to act retarded when it comes to PETA?
The only ones acting retarded are PETA because they don't actually
do anything productive or relevant. This is one of the many cases where they rally over a non-issue and make their cause look progressively worse. Any news on PETA's activities generally points out the nutjob side of their operations, and if that's "doing its thing," then they're failing. Miserably.
RachaelHill and all others who point out that flaw in the PETA mentality have a valid point; there is absolutely no reason why they should prioritize animals over human beings - hell,
we are animals, which makes them look extra hypocritical to not at least use equal terms and consideration. As far as basic instincts, it doesn't get much more mental than that until we see their own practices where they countervail their own animal protection "efforts" at every turn (see euthanizing).
Or to condense the point: PETA's PR department could use a lesson from Bobby-f***ing-Kotick.
