Ah thought I had heard of them, I find it rather funny that they are on the domestic terrorist list, you think PETA wouldn't want to associate with a group that by the governments standards is about as bad as the unibomber.
You'd think so, but a huge part of people who supports PETA financially are unaware of PETA's support of ALF.

It even says on their official website: "?How can you justify the millions of dollars of property damage caused by the Animal Liberation Front (ALF)??

Throughout history, some people have felt the need to break the law to fight injustice. The Underground Railroad and the French Resistance are examples--"

It's hard to believe that they can trivialize slavery, fascist dictatorship rule and genocide, and then continue comparing it to animal rights.
Their logic must escape me because were I see a place that produces food they see the friken holocaust, they must think fast food is out there to purge the planet of chickens and cows. And I have no idea how they think that animal lives are above human lives.

Exactly my thoughts. They have a strange mentality.

Coming from the same company that last year killed a bunch of dogs and cats because they couldn't afford to shelter and feed them, but yet hire models and other famous people for ads

Extremist is just a pejorative word for labeling someone you don't agree with. I thoroughly disagree with far-right Evangelical Christians, but their positions are no more "extreme" than my own or anyone else's. PeTA just has a set of criteria for what ought to be, and sticks to its guns.
Good point, but are you condoning some organisations like the Animal Liberation Front? Because PETA is.
Nope. I'm not saying anything about them. But calling them "extremists" isn't useful.
Maybe it isn't helpful, but it's a correct categorisation, and only a handful of people will disagree with that statement, besides my biggest problem with PETA isn't PETA itself, it's that they support ALF.

Considering the fact that this is a game, by Zynga, this is just another publicity stunt.

PETA has always been, and always will be, on my shitlist.

Seriously, what the hell do they hope will happen if they take animals out of Mafia Wars? That people will become vegetarians?

It's like their campaign to rename fish "Sea Kittens" it's such a fucking joke.
Changing their name won't make them taste any worse. But I could get behind one name change though - change PETA to People Eating Tasty Animals. I'd srsly consider joining it.

It's a game, the animals don't even exist.
What the hell?

Besides, last time I checked, PETA murdered more animals than meat eaters did.
Agreed. I like what they stand for but not what they do, or how they do it...

Any one thinks that the worst thing that PETA is worried about a game that you rob, kill, and are part of the freaking Mob, that one can take his dog along for the fun.

I don't really agree with PETA's stance that having animals in Mafia Wars is equivalent to the dog-fighting that we see. Sure it's something that does hold some pale resemblance to the fictional animals that would be seen on Mafia Wars. The difference is in that we are not dealing with actual animals. That and owning a tiger wouldn't be something that you would walk around town with. I'm sure a leash won't be of much help anyway. Appealing to the CEO might work in theory, but if anything it would be a simple change to make these animals into robots. Though I have a feeling that PETA will look on that idea with the same vain.

The one thing I hate more than religious moral zealots... PETA.

I really wouldn't care if they decided to crawl under a rock and fade away from existence forever. Self-righteous imbeciles, they complained about MW1 depicting the killing of dogs while ignoring the 300 or so men you just murdered earlier.

The fact that most of the people in PETA are vegans makes me go gah. They don't eat anything that comes near to an animal, or maybe the animal's droppings...

I'm going to open up a chain of slaughter houses outside each and every PETA base/office.whatever. They can ***** me out all they want, just leave the video games alone!

They muder about 95 percent of the animals they pick up in their vans, was the statistic I read.

Well, I will post what I always post whenever I see PETA:

Yet more lies from the most hypocritical, attention/money whoring organization shat into existence since Scientology.

For an organization that seems to obsessed with trying to correct how we live, they sure do enjoy euthanize many of the animals they "rescue."
Over 90% of the animals they 'rescue' are Euthanize. Hypocrites indeed.

Also, the leader of PETA has been quoted on how it is incredibly oppressive and bigoted of humans to breed with only other humans. Yes, you read that correctly.

Fucking joke man. Why give a good cause such a bad name.
Are you serious, he actually said that? I knew PETA was fucked up but who in their right mind would actually think that.

Where did you read this and how exactly? Like do they actually snap their necks or something....wait, do they kill the animals and then put the dead animals in situations and pretend someone else did it?

PETA can piss off and rot, I hate Zynga, but I hate PETA more, bunch of extremist morons who make people with a real interest in animal protection (me) look foolish by their stupidity.

But it is true.
If you read two posts up from this conversation branch, you'd see that it's can't be a "true" statement. It's pejorative. All it tells you is that what they think ought to be is somehow removed from mainstream society, or whatever you identify yourself as. When America kept slaves, were the people who wanted to free them "extremists"? What about the American founding fathers who rebelled against the British rule? Of course they were. And that's why the term "extremist" is worthless for a discussion on whether or not PeTA is in the right.
