Finally someone "of worth" in the gaming industry has come out and said it. It only took you 6 months, but it's a start.

Kinect is the reason that Microsoft are losing the "war" in sales, because of the extra 100$ used in gimmicky technology that no one cares about and gimping their own hardware.

No wonder they can't even compete with PS4 when it comes to the hardware, Sony actually made their console to be used for..wait for it...GAMES! *le gasp*
Actually Nintendo is the one that did that. Sony just focused a hair more on games than Microsoft did. Not much though.

Who are you and what did you do with the real Peter Molyneux?

I agree wholeheartedly, though. It's like when Wii titles forced developers into sticking in some random wiimote flail gimmick that ended up ruining flow and not working properly half the time.

Until they develop physical feedback, motion controls are always going to be garbage.

Also this is exactly why the kinect was/is so poorly received.

First gamers didn't buy it because there was a lack of (good)games, and game companies didn't really want to make games because not enough people ownd one. (loop back to start of the sentince)

Microsoft did do the senseble thing and include it as a core part.

But by then gamers thought of it as a kid's toy, and game companies just can't be botherd.
Partly because game companies dont really wat to take the time to do al that work for just one system. (same goes for Wii U)

Right now people like Peter Molyneux declairing the Kinect "a joke" is whats harming it the most.
Put al that effort in making a good game for it, instead of trying to kick it down.

But i do think that by releasing the first kinect for the Xbox360, Microsoft played it's card a bit early.
And if Kinect came out of the blue For Xbox One, it would have been far better received.
This is a good analysis of the Kinect situation. They want more people to have it, so more people (devs) will us it. Take it off and fewer devs will try to incorporate the system. It's a catch 22: More people need to buy it for it to work. Problem being that the last Kinect left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. So by boxing it with the Xbox One MS hopes to create a big enough base for the unit. Unfortunately, many are blaming the low sales due to the bundle. I think it's partially true, but the other reason for low sales is still the "Online check in" backlash. The incident and how it was handled stung MS pretty hard.
Yes, and you can see the bad taste in most responses here as well.

About half of Europe doesn't have the One in the shops yet, so that might inpackt sales a bit.

So Microsoft replaced his money sack with a sack of turd?

He certainly didn't say anything like this when he was getting money out of it.

Anyone remember Milo, the interactive kid in the demo for the... um.. kinnect, which was present by, er, Molyneux.

I was thinking the same thing. Back when it was the 360 and was still referred to as Project Natal. Apparently, things have turned. I don't know if the reality of the technology was very different from what PM was promised back then or if it's just one more case of Molyneux being Molyneux, promising the sky while he's still drawing up schematics for a ladder.

Still, it's interesting to get his opinion and thus far I think he's right on. Aside from maybe Fantasia and use as a glorified remote control, the XB1's version of the tech doesn't seem to have a lot to recommend it as yet, certainly nothing to price it $100 above its competition.

I do find it interesting that shops are out of Xbox One. Between Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, and Gamestop I can find at least 3-5 units on the shelf. They like Sony had a windowed release, but feels like it wasn't a choice for either company rather a low supply.

As for Mr Molyneux, I can't say he's helping the situation. True he's not the most popular man in the world, but people do know of him and his games. That alone might make some listen to him further poisoning the waters for the Kinect. I really want to give the device a chance, but it reminds me of Wii. While a cool function, shouldn't be the basis of a system(controller). Wii motes, Kinect, and Sixaxis can add to interface, but forcing all games to use it would be lunacy. Keep it simple. Instead of finding new ways to interact, make the games more engaging.

I love Molyneux sometimes. He has some great passion and, like a lot of people, he recognizes that we play on these consoles to play games, and I can respect that.

That being said, Molyneux, you really don't have any room to talk when it feels like the combat was "unnecessary" in Fable 2 and 3.

You know what else was a "unnecessary add-on" peter? THAT GOLD GRIND AT THE END OF FABLE 3.

A bit like the touchpad on the PS4 controllers. Ancillary and surplus to requirements, not really adding in a great deal. It has potential to I suppose, but MS have hamstrung themselves by selling their hardware for £100 greater than the technically superior and kinectless PS4.
