The jury is still out on this one, I won't reach a verdict on until I see the trailer.
You get half a point for that one. There's no jury in Phoenix Wright.

Do you ever NOT make puns?
Does the Avatar ever NOT bring balance to the elements?
Yes, when he froze himself for 100 years. And caused his people to die out.

There's one in Apollo Justice, though. Maybe we'll see that in movie form down the road. :D

OT: As far as the casting goes, I did a few searches (since I'm not familiar with the actors.)

Here's Phoenix (Hiroki Narimiya:)

And here's Edgeworth (Takumi Saito)

And this is Maya (Mirei Kiritani.)

it's almost as if the actress is...

...channeling the character.

Now this is an adaptation that I wholeheartedly support. The Phoenix Wright games were a lot of fun and Japanese cinema is just absurd enough to make this work. Can't wait to see who they cast as Dick Gumshoe.

I don't know. If I learned one thing it is not to underestimate the Japanese ability to make strange concepts work and stay true to the source material. They have my support!

I think...That only Japan will be able to pull off the insanity that is Phoenix Wright and all its insane plots...Since they made it. I think if America tried it'd all fall apart like one of the other times America adapted something Japanese. (See Dragonball Evolution for more details)

Hrm... I take it this will be live action adaption? I'd very much prefer an Anime version of the games just to stay true to the original.

On the other hand... if this movie works, we could be seeing the new 'Miles Edgeworth' game outside of Japan. That alone would be worth it!

I haven't even played any of the games, been considering getting them since my DS hasn't got much use in a while. But Takashi Miike kicks all kinds of ass, so I'm interested already.

Hmmmm.
Iv never seen any of Mr.Takashi's films but i have some hope.
The Death Note movies were all pretty good so who knows.
We could be pleasantly surprised.
Miike is known for being the most sadistic movie director in the business. It's hard to justify watching his stuff unless you get kicks from that sort of stuff. It's almost pure shock factor, even people like Rob Zombie won't watch it.

Which makes it interesting they chose him to direct, whereas he may be one of the sickest horror directors there are, his stories are often incredibly convoluted and unbearable.

I don't know why but I really want it to be like Law and Order but with ridiculous (in the good way) characters.

This should be awesome! I will judge the entire movie based on how well the guy who plays Edgeworth can pull this off

Now to wait for the inevitable "not in Europe" announcement...
