Morrigan from Dragon Age... seeks patterns of power in the sequences of cards that could be harnessed as part of an arcane ritual.
Mordin from Mass Effect 2 finds social aspect of poker fascinating. Collectors have no games of chance - no culture, no recreation. Seen as wasteful. *sharp intake of breath* Natural in species with nothing to gain or lose by taking risk. Everything important already lost.
Cassiel from Fall From Heaven 2... enjoys the game for its own sake, neither seeking nor wanting anything from it but what it already is.
Steven Heck from Alpha Protocol... is convinced that he was invited to the poker game as part of an elaborate setup for an attempt on his life by one of the many shady organisations he believes want to kill him. He still comes, determined to turn the tables on them.

I foresee Morrigan's schemes interacting lethally with Heck's natural hyper-paranoia. Mordin and Cassiel take refuge behind an overturned table and watch the ensuing shoot-out and explosion-fest. While Cassiel is initially irked by the loss of a pleasant game, he finds Mordin's commentary on the battle amusing enough to provide sufficient compensation.

Okay, so maybe you wanted the last 4 VIDEO games I played, but too bad, I played D&D more recently than STALKER, so I'm going with that.


Aaaaaaaand... That actually sounds like an interesting table. My D&D character's terrible with money and loves gambling (despite following a ranger's utter lack of interest in money and material possessions). John Marston strikes me as a nice-enough sort of fellow 'slong as ya don't get caught cheating, Akiba isn't likely to shoot me and could be interesting, and Kit Ballard would call people noinks. I think it could work. =D
