Played both Prototype & InFamous

Okay here's the deal, just finished Prototype's main story line (worked well for me i liked it)

Just a quick catch up

InFAMOUS - you get the free roaming stuff on 3 different islands, what is it.. 12-14(got the speciel edition ability too) lightning based abilities. You get to be Evil or Good, up too you in some situations. Havent completed the game yet.. but im 20-25 hours into it.

Prototype - Free roaming also, just on one massive island... my guess would be that the 3 islands combined is smaller than the one big one in prototype. The storyline dunno how long it took me..also ran around and did some sidemissions - approx 7-16 hours depends if you do side missions or not. Ability's hmm... hard to say... over 25... maybe more... you can upgrade them with points through the game... NOTE: There is replayability in the game after you completed a game on a difficulty you can choose to play it again at option screen with everything unlocked at the start of the game.. pretty sweet . (btw there is ****loads of stuff that has to be unlocked in that game xD)


The Scale of Building's, Human mobs and god knows what is just BIGGER in prototype than anything ive tried before(okay maybe the later GTA series could have worlds bigger..and MMO's...you get the point)... and the FPS was over 50+ (PC) no matter how many NPC's or whatever came on screen it never got down below 40 FPS... it really felt like a War at sometimes ... truely awesome.. the gore tho.. also... gotta say one of the most violent games ive ever tried - the body surfing is awesome ;D. you can split people in two pieces

The Graphic's of InFAMOUS theyre okay seen better (Crysis, GTA 4 etc..) but they live up to the standard..(the lightning tho is nicely done)
Prototype's graphics... i could live with ehm they are alright imo the gameplay brought it up... animations in both games are very cool... very fluid

BUT!... if i had to choose one of those 2 ... no question about it... the sheer fun and awesomeness and size of Prototype would make me choose it... tho... alittle bit shorter game..but f*** that... ive never had so much fun since Postal 2 and if you're still "bla bla bla infamous is better bla bla bla graphic's bla bla bla".. im still gonna say "i can cut people in half and see the blood and guts... do that with your lightning ?"


i just thought i would write this short review... or whatever it is... seen alot of posts about they dont know what to get... and so on... GET PROTOTYPE (if you dont got a PS3 and only X360/PC) if you only got a PS3... get infamous... if you got a PS3/PC/X360 get prototype and InFamous as i did both awesome games ...(but prototype is still gonna rock your world)

There was no point to this, I've played and beaten both games, and the comparison ends with open world gameplay. They are very different games.

i could stop comparing... but but there are so many who does it... and now i did it.. :O boohoo... you are right ... 2 very different games with only open world gameplay as comparison... but i would anyday go for prototype... there is more diversity in Prototype than Infamous... infamous you always got the lighting... nothing more... just lighthing this and lighting that... Prototype just got a huge variety in powers...thats why i like prototype more

Just to nitpick, you do realize that stating your framerate on a PC is kinda useless for rating the game cause peoples PC's run very differently right?

Other than that, i think it's nice to hear your oppinion seeing as i can only play prototype (i have PC + Wii) Though i'm still considering getting another console. It just happens too often that i see a game, think WANTZ 2 PLAY PLZ, and then realize that it isn't on the wii/is a badly made port on the wii.

Does the controlls work well on PC? I havent' tried it yet, but it looks like the kind of game i would prefer a controller for

These games are nothing alike so will everyone stop comparing them they are both great games and everyone should play both. Comparing these just doesn't work they both have their own strength and weaknesses and they both have their differences so please everyone stop comparing.

The controlls for Prototype on PC are okay they are simple and easy to use no breaking fingers or anything xD

I was actually pretty amazed that after I said " ... I believe Prototype is the mediocre game compared to Infamous" (I was just trying to be modest) to a friend who owned a PS3, and who was about to try out Prototype for the first time on my PC. When the latter replied " Wow, this is the most fun game I have ever played " after a few hours in the game, I could clearly see that someone who played game with an open mind would see the gem that both games are.

The sheer amount of interesting abilities that turn Mr. Mercer into a hulk-venom hybrid is just crazy, yes, the AI ain't too bright but the game is damn fun.

I think the reason that people compare it so much is that people KNOW inFAMOUS was a great game, so they try their hardest to bundle Prototype in with it, thus making them both sound awesome (Which, they are.) It's better off to leave them apart. Both feature 2 guys, Open environments, and Super Powers. Thats where the comparison ends. Im going to start classifying these comparisons as Flame-Bait, and leave it at that.

someone here said that you could use an 360 controller on your PC and play it with a controller without having to buy a console, would you reccomend that, or should i just go for the good old key/mouse combo

I would say the same thing only i would chose prototype because i love me some lighting grenades.
They are both fun though no reason you shouldnt get both if you can.

Well I like it, and if you want to get SF4, then a controller would benefit you. Unless Capcom are releasing the fightsticks. But, if you like the 360 controller then go for it.
