Since I'm only 16 and only started to really like video games two years ago, I'm starting to go back and play consoles I missed. Recently I bought a Dreamcast and bought Shenmue, Jet Grind Radio and Tony Hawk Pro Skater. Now I want to go to the N64 and first Xbox. So is this like retro gaming?

Also what older consoles do you still play?

I still play the NES and SNES from time to time when I want to go old school. The N64 collects dust and the Atari XE...well I gotta find that.

I still break out the N64 and play some Smash with my friends when they're over, and I sometimes play PS1 games on the PS2. Wish I could find my Dreamcast, though.

I dunno what's really classed as retro...

But for me, the oldest I have is my SNES. I don't play it very often, it feels so incredibly difficult to play games on it after playing anything more modern like my 360. I still have my N64 though, for the three best games (obviously): Goldeneye, Mario Kart and Zelda.

The oldest console I have, must be my N64. Goldeneye, Super Mario 64 & Ocarina of Time is the only games I have for it tho. Followed by my PS2, which I have stockpiled ALOT of games.

You consider the N64 and origional Xbox retro?

Man I feel old, and I'm only twenty one!
Anyway the oldest console I own is the NES, the oldest I've played is this old vector graphics system that's name escapes me.

Also congrats on getting Shenmue enjoy one of the better gaming expireances your likly to have, get the sequal,
reach the cliffhanger ending and realise that you'll never see a sequal! MUAHAHAHA!

I still have an N64 I frequently play though I fear for its longevity, everything breaks no matter how well you take care of it.

The only console i have is an PS1, the small one...

In my book, oldschool gaming is NES, SNES, C64 and propably some i have never heard about...
And i usually call it retro-gaming when i play on my PS1, since it is not old enough to be "oldschool"... Retro just seems to fit it better, but it will be oldschool some day...

PS1 is the oldest I have. It's seen better days; I literally need to use a small rock to keep it closed. Some of my favourites of all time are on there:
A Bug's Life (My first game ever(surprisingly good transition from movie to game))
Croc
Spyro 1, 2, and 3
Digimon World 3
Pac-man World
etc.
I still love to play these.

I should walk my ass to the local market one of these days and grab a Mega Drive. I've still got cartridges collecting dust.

That was the first console I ever got, back when I was 6. :'-)

Whoo man, i still have my SNES and 64.

I wouldent consider the 64 "Retro" though.

SNES on the other hand, iv still got Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World, F-Zero, Star Fox.
Man every time i hook it up its a nostalgia trip.

Playstation was some of the best years of my life, Omega Boost, MGS, FF7. The list just goes on, that and DOS games.

I don't know where my 80s Salora went, but I still play on my Megadrive II (Genesis for some), replaying mostly the old Sonic games and a couple of other platformers. Man was Ecco II a wicked game. I still keep a PSX and a PS2 around, as well as the old X-Box. I really don't regard anything from the PSX onwards to be retro, though. SNES and backwards, yeah that's retro alright.

Whenever i try and play games that i used to a few years ago, i'm astonished by just how un-enjoyable they are now compared to modern games. Because of that i got rid of all my old gaming stuff.

HAHAHAHA! No.

OT: I still play my PS1 on a regular basis. I must have finished Crash 3 five times this year.

I realize that I'm showing my age here you guys but I remember when I upgraded to an NES and thought I had it made. To me retro is what it is. And that's pre 32bits. As you might imagine when I got my Genesis I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. :)

I guess you could call a two-generation old console that is not sold officially today, retro.
But an Xbox? Naah. Imho it's just a bit of nostalgia.
