It's not the video games fault for being fun, it's the parents fault for allowing young children who aren't mature enough to play games. The parents should atleast try to monitor their children's time on games aswell.
I disagree.
I am 13 and i sincerely doubt me being too young to watch this considering that i am working on math stuff of a 17 years old , getting A's at school without even trying , And have ideas that if anyone could ever stop stereotyping me for the screamy 13 years old asshole , they could bring down the entire education system of Israel.
Age has nothing to do with it , it is the personality that counts.

PS: I watched saving private Ryan and wept a tear at the ending.
The beginning tho , was nothing short of fascinating (coming from a guy who reads entire wikipedia pages about WW2).
I know what you're saying and i agree. If you're mature enough to play video games and the parents think so, it's fine. But the majority of children under 13 aren't usually mature.

This is completely inaccurate, cocaine increases the bodies dopamine transmitter, this is not the same as video games... Yes, the body does produce dopamine from video games, this is actually how the body normally functions, and definitely not the amounts that cocaine produces.

Each time you do something "Win" the body produces some dopamine, this is normal. Thanks the gods someone posted that dopamine graph.

If you were to, say, put a hat upside down on the ground, get a deck of cards and try and flick cards in it. Each time you would get a "Win" you'd also get some dopamine from that. It's the same as video games. Is it possible for some people to become obsessive about flicking cards in a hat? Sure, it's possible. Not in the extremes of drug use though.

As a psychologist who is basing his thesis on video games, I find this very offensive. It's not cocaine it's more like heroin, get it right!

Interesting thought: Addiction is based on the speed at which pleasure follows the action you become addicted to.

So let's say it takes 10 seconds to snort a line of cocaine (I don't really know) and 2 hours to get the same pleasure with video games. 2 hours is 120 minutes, and 120 minutes is 7200 seconds.

According to this, cocaine is 720 times more addictive than video games. Or, if you like, video games are 0.00138888889 times as addictive as cocaine.

Games are addictive, just like poker ebay and facebook!
Hang on, two of those are not games, and the third isn't really a video game. Whatever, lets not let silly facts disagree with wild and crazy claims.

It's gotten to the stage where i almost find enjoyment out of every new supposed 'discovery' about what games do to you.
Why is that people refuse to believe that the parents and the way they discipline their children just might have something to do with it.

I actually think that thats a load of shit.

But it is possible that some people get that effect... like alcohol tolerance level: some have high tolerance others can't tolerate alcohol.

You can't compare highs between Coke and ANYTHING. Good science, Mr. therapist. Its almost as if this guy has never heard of Dopamine.
To explain, your brain gives off Dopamine when it gets happy - simply put. COCAINE chemically forces you to OVERPRODUCE Dopamine production, making you high. Things that aren't chemical cannot do that.
Just... Here:

Holy smokes.

Time to try meth.
I know right?! Fuck sex, do meth!
I wonder where Tetris ranks on this graph.
Depends on the Tetris God's mood

OT: No. No no no. Up stand for this I put not will. Stupidity needs to be put on a leach or something

Seriously? Do these people get their degrees online or something?
I believe it comes with cereal box coupons.

This is a completely biased attack on video games, methinks. Parents really should be monitering how much video games their child plays (especially under the age of ten!). Hell, when I was ten I was allowed one hour of video games a day, but that matured into a "whenever I want to play I'll play attitude" and I'm not overly aggressive. If anything, video games just stimulate creative juices in my brain.

Haha! I think Lancashire has FAR higher problems than videogame addiction. Another point, do you find it strange that people like this therapist base some crackpot theory on something this volatile, its all about getting their name out there. 15 mins of "scientific" fame.
