I want a new Ps2 as I recently got Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call for a fiver from HMV (virtually mint too, its possibly a stock item that they moved to pre-owned), and I would definately pay £15 for a PS2 (especially if its a slim! :D) to take back with me to uni!
(I gotta complete Rogue Galaxy, and Dark Chronicles too!)

It's worth it because they're STILL releasing new games for the PS2. At least they were recently, I don't know how that works now.

In short, if it works, buy it now. Like, log off and go right this very second RIGHT NOW.

Do you not have other consoles? On a personal note I preferred RE 4 on the others compared to the PS2, but it's still good, if he's selling it to you as well then take it!
Erm yup Xbox 360. My friend has RE 4, but is there anywhere I can find SotC cheap?

Also, can you connect a PS2 to your PC monitor, thus switching between the PC and the console?

And...what is Okami? I've heard alot of praise for it, though I have no idea what it is.

Oh and do the early God Of War and Metal Gear Solid games stack up well against today's releases, or were they just good at the time?

Sorry for the nooby questions, any help is really appreciated.

This website is amazing, even most new games are dirt cheap.

Okami...hard to explain.

The earliest games in a good series are usually the best. So yes buy GoW and MGS and love them.

Is there a UK version of this website?

Yes, yes it is. But you'd also need to get ME1, which is only fifteen bucks. :D
Erm...thanks for the tip, but I've completed it 7 times.

There is a device you can use, but the quality then is awfully bad, I wouldn't recommend it. If you own a monitor with an HDMI port, you could use the HD-Converter for the PS2 (shouldn't be very expensive, but I never saw it on sale, lol).

Imagine it as a Zelda game on the PS2. The art design is much different, but the gameplay compares pretty well.

God of War isn't that old as that you can say they couldn't compare with 'today's' games, they just do because they are today's games 'inspiring' other developers.
Metal Gear Solid is a hard topic, though. If you liked the first, you'll probably at least find all the others decent. But, to answer your question more appropriately: They have aged well.

Hey, no problem :D obviously we all love to talk about this topic. Can't find anyone who answers 'don't get the PS2', or is there?

Hey guys, I'm 15, came a little late to the party and feel like I have missed alot. Is it worth buying a PS2 off my friend for £15 to play classics like Shadow Of The Colossus and Resident Evil 4, or am I better off saving my cash for new stuff like Mass Effect 2?
i bought mine only 5 months ago for $89 yet i love it soooo yes DO IT!

Oh my God yes. There are so many brillant titles on the PS2...some of my favourites to name just a few:

Kingdom Hearts
" " II
Dark Cloud
Dark Cloud 2 (Dark Chronicle for us in Europe)
Final Fantasy X
GTA: Vice City
Chaos Legion
Soul Calibur II
Star Wars: Battlefront

Yeah, I'll stop now, but seriously, for £15, you can't say no.

I suppose it depends on how much you like Mass Effect but it definitely sounds like a good deal.

Well yes, for that cheap, definitely go get it.

But as for RE4, you may want to get it on the other consoles (GCN/Wii) if you can. The Wii version in particular is amazing.

If you can I'd check out Castlevania: Lament of Innocence/ Curse of Darkness. Although they're not perfect, they're both very fun games.
