Hey guys, I'm 15, came a little late to the party and feel like I have missed alot. Is it worth buying a PS2 off my friend for £15 to play classics like Shadow Of The Colossus and Resident Evil 4, or am I better off saving my cash for new stuff like Mass Effect 2?
download an emulator and you can play ps2 and ps1 games on your pc.

15 pounds is nothing for a Ps2.....BUY IT!

I mean, its a DvD player, cd player, Ps1 and you can play all the ps2 instant classics.

15? YESH!!!
If you haven't played Resident Evil 4, man stick with it, it's a GREAT game! It was very challenging for me, but I swear, it was one of the best games I've played. Ever.

i think its like 37p to send a dvd in a paper case lol

i tried a ps2 emulator and it was slow and i found it much easier to play using my tv and my good old ps2 slim

Well do you have a PS3 cause ya' know backward compatibilty.
If not i'd say its a great deal go on on it's only £15.
nope hard to find a ps3 with backwards compatibility nowadays
Ebay is magical for that particular task. A 60gb going for about $150, wonderful.

OP: A ps2 at that price is a steal, especially if you haven't played and can find all of the consoles classics. Not to mention some companies still support the ps2 with new games(see: persona 4 and Jak and Daxter: The lost frontier).

NO! It's a terrible console. Give me your friend's address and contact number and I, being the nice, generous guy that I am, will dispose the PS2 myself...

Yeah, anyway, remember to buy Gradius V.

If it works, definitely. I kind of hate my PS3 because nothing is compatible with it, including my Guitar Hero controller that isn't wireless. And I hate that there's no way to plug in the wireless guitar to charge it, like the game controller. Argh.

it sounds like a good deal and I would get it.
Yeah, I'm lucky I got the limited edition PS3 with full backward compatibility EXCEPT FFVIII, my favourite PS1 game!

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes.............as long as you get those games and don't just let the PS2 turn into a brick like I did mine, but I did play those games before I let that happen.

Hell yeah, it is!

Here's the thing: every (even halfway decent) system of every generation had some strengths that couldn't quite be matched by anything else out there, and PS2 ruled the last gen by far (and I hate hate hate Sony, btw). If you've never had the chance to play games that have proven themselves, games that highly influenced all the clones of this generation (ahem!), then it's well worth it, especially since they're probably at roughly 1/5 the price you'd pay for an unproven game that will, statistically speaking, probably end up way too short, way too underwhelming and way too easy (but hey, they may stick some tits in there to distract you).

Damn, am I cynical today!

Yes, buy that PS2 from your buddy. And sorry about the controller :)
