I haven't tried updating it yet. I have a slim. Wonder what models it affected. Ill give it a go in any case.
EDIT

I updated my PS3 slim to 3.21 and haven't noticed any issues. Obvious the lack of linux functionality is a moot point for me because the console couldn't do that in the first place. I did notice that the update process itself took quite a bit of time, but that could just be my internet connection being slow. The console has been on literally 100% of the time- I donate to Folding@home and haven't noticed any problems.
Ok cool, a little less hesitant now.

Thank God I haven't connected. And I won't until I complete FFXIII. I won't let it do any harm to my save files. I'm 20 hours into this ***** and I won't lose all that work now.

My old faithful release 60GB PS3 has yet to fail me. 3 years and counting since the PS3 was released?
Same Here friend, same here.

Calumon: I was trapped underneath one for days! They are really, really heavy!
Are you gonna keep up that Calumon thing for ever? (I do actually hope so, your posts make me laugh)
Until I die! Or I get bored and give Calumon an account where Calumon is the only poster! (Probably never going to happen...)

Calumon: I wanna play forever and ever and ever!

Oh come on, this is getting a little silly.

This is what, the third update that's crippled (some) people's machines? And then they couldn't program the clock right?

Hopefully this'll be the last of it - because if I ever get a PS3 to play Uncharted 2 I will beat the head of Sony down with a stick if my machine is crippled.
No, this is like the fourth or fifth problematic update.

As for the clock, that wasn't their fault. The manufacturer of one of the chips inside the system screwed up.

P.S. Thanks

This happens with just about every update on every console. For whatever reason, the update bricks some consoles.

Although I haven't heard of any 360s bricked with this week's update; that must be some kind of record (knock on wood).

Of course, with the 360's failure rate, it's hard to tell whether it's the update or just it's "time". *rimshot [http://instantrimshot.com]*

Oh no! not a 15 page thread! lets look away from the 200 page threads about 360 issues and focus on whats going on with Sony!

Alright, I retract my clock-related statement.

Also, "thanks"?

I've had no issue since the update, but once again Sony drops the ball. They need a better testing department.

It's like the universe is conspiring to prove that I am right, fighting DRM hurts the consumers more than the piracy itself, especially what is just POTENTIAL piracy with "OMG our console isn't completely locked down"

Come on Sony, PS1 was still great to spite how easy it was to get chipped.

If you are worried about piracy you shouldn't even be half as worry about that as rushing out hasty updates (in the name of countering piracy) that brick your consoles as that harms your reputation to new customers and your relations with your existing customers.

They will learn in the end but HOW LONG!

After the download, I couldn't get onto Playstation store the other day. Could it be related?

Everything seems fine now, but I'll be wary.

It's all a conspiracy by Nintendo, you realise? They wanted to sabotage all the competition. Microsoft, they knew, was too strong. The Evil Empire could not be infiltrated, the code... could not be changed.

So they sent forth the gremlins to the factories, the shipping plants, to place molotov cocktails inside each and every Xbox. Now, the tech ninjas have infiltrated Sony, placing tactical binary to undermine them from within.

We're all doomed! They will come for us!

Umm... Sony...
Just stop updating the PS3 yourselves. You obviously can't handle that responsibility on your own.

Oh goody!

Sony: Crap, they're hacking our console... let's not let them do that any more, even though that'll piss loads of our customers off... We'll tell them it's causing issues and we're going to fix them...

Consumers: WTF??? You're trying to stop exploits by BREAKING the consoles?

Could I ask where Caulmon originated from?
No but you may ask where Calumon came from! ^^

Well... I'm getting rather fed up of saying it (Maybe I'll make a hotlink that will automatically type it?)

Calumon originated from Digimon Tamers which, in my opinion, is absolute perfection, especially for it's time. Calumon was sort of the Mascot Character, who actually played a major part in the story. I set him as my Avatar and one day, someone, who shall go nameless and is now banned, said "Does your Calumon even talk? What use is a Digimon that doesn't talk?" Thus, I held a middle finger to him and Calumon has entered my Life... and my Escapist.

And Here's Calumon with a version of Boom De Yada

Calumon:
I Love to play Tag!
I love to Say my Thoughts!
I love to hug Jack!
I love to see the stars!
I love the whole World,
So many people to play!

BOOM DE YADA
BOOM DE YADA
BOOM DE YADA
BOOM DE YADA

I had a problem, it didnt lock up my console, but it did make my controllers not sync with the system, even when plugged in.

Fixed itself though, luckily
