Maybe Yamauchi should "clean" his toilet; I'm sure it's in need of a good scrubbing after the amount of time he spent being so fucking anal about releasing this game.

Wasnt one of the big selling points of the ps3 that it was "More powerful of a system then the 360"?

I mean, im not trying to diss the playstation or anything but.....
It is at least twice as powerful. What he wants is just stupid.
What a load of bovine scat. The Cell was already outdated before it even came out. All things considered, it's still a pretty good processor at doing certain calculations.

The differences between the PS3 and 360 are mostly in their architecture. The PS3's GPU, however is not as advanced as the 360's. It's about half a generation behind. The PS3's processor can indeed take up some of the graphical calculations due to its architecture, but that limits what it can do on other fronts.

Had the PS3 been given 256 more MB of ram split between VRAM And system RAM, then there would be a significant difference there. Had the GPU incorporated some of the more modern developments in GPUs at the time of its design, then I would have no problems in saying that the PS3 was a significant step up from the 360. As it is now, it's just a massively bottlenecked system.

Oh and, the 360's GPU is more advanced mainly because it incorporates a unified shader architecture (was brand new for its time). The 360's memory is also shared between the VRAM and System RAM, which can give developers a lot more flexibility. The total RAM in both systems is the same, though.

Jeez, this guy is practically an obsessive perfectionist. If the Ps3 isn't "powerful enough" for his needs, then he needs to rethink his approach to his games, or, as much as I hate giving the PC-elitists the ammunition, go to the PC (which can't happen, as Polyphony is owned by Sony, though he could split from the company).

Sometimes specialization is more important that sheer, hardware capability. It should be noted that this is Polyphony's first PS3 game (aside from GT5: Prologue), but seriously, there's perfectionism and obsession.

no doubt the guys a obsessive compulsive... but that can be a good thing. all will be revealed when we finally get are hands on the final product... cant say to much now as we are all just speculating.
sure is a lot of hate going on against gt5 which is odd and a little undeserved imo... sure waiting sucks... but thats the kinda leeway that big companies get, look at id or blizzard or any other major ip. the pressure is huge and they dont wanna suffer from bad reviews because they rushed it out the door.
it would be cool to see what poly could do with a pc exclusive tho...

Can he stop talking about what he 'believes' he did wrong with the game and just release it...
I mean tooting your own horn is one thing, but he's playing an entire marching band worth of horns.
"Oh noes, i didn't have all the stuff i wanted..."
"Oh noes, the console isn't strwong enough..."
"Oh noes, it's not ready yet..."

I didn't want to sound rude. I just want to stop hearing about how disappointing he believes it to be.

....Really?
He's full of crap. I think he's just using it as an excuse to keep delaying the game.

Pure hogwash.

The Playstation 3 isn't powerful enough to realize his vision of a driving simulator. Oh damn. I guess I'll have to just go hop in my car and drive it for real then. How tragic.

Seriously man, keep your broken game to yourself. After all this time you can't keep the damn frame rate up, you are a terrible game designer. A good one would cut something out of the graphics or whatever in order to keep the frame rate up so gamers have a fun time playing, but here you are, some fart sniffing asshole dev saying "sorry gamers, I refuse to sacrifice my vision of a fucking driving game, so enjoy the framerate drops ruining your playtime!".
wow, easy buddy, all that rage is gonna give you heart condition. you try getting 16 cars on a grid with full damage and weather effects at 60fps at 1080p. calm down
I get what he's saying, a to a point I agree with him. Good graphics and weather/damage effects are great and all, but when they get in the way of gameplay, you have a problem here.

There's no fun in playing a laggy game, I'm sure we can all agree on that, and having low FPS in a game that pretty much demands quick reflexes and punishes mistakes is a big deal indeed.

OT: Come on man, get real. Graphics can't carry a game, if anything, good gameplay more often than not makes up for mediocre graphics. Look at Counter Strike 1.6, WoW, and a plethora of mods for UT2004 and Half Life 1. All bustling, some busier than AAA titles with amazing graphics, all because they have engaging gameplay.
Nobody has ever said that the game was going to be laggy. They said that the framerate will drop below 60fps. It has NEVER BEEN SAID BY HOW MUCH. He's a perfectionist, so I'm assuming that a drop to 57fps is unacceptable for him, and a drop to 57 would be completely unnoticeable by the human eye. If we're dropping from 60 to 25, it's a different story.
Precisely. We don't know how much of a framerate drop we're talking about here. In fact, from what I can gather from this thread it hasn't even been released yet. I'm simply stating that in my opinion, Gameplay > Graphics, especially in a racing game.

this man speaks the truth
QFT.

As always with these ever-longer console generations, PC gaming rigs get way more powerful than the current console generation. Seriously, PC gaming is right now held back by the consoles, not the PC itself.

If he made this game for Virtual Reality, he'd "beg forgiveness" that crashing out failed to leave your body horribly mangled.

So its more powerful then a 360, but not powerful enough to make a real differance?

Yeah, like saying Arnold Swartzenegger in his prime and some random guy who's never worked out in his life, get hit by a train. Either one will die, so it didn't matter who was in better shape. ;3
