This is in line with predictions I heard and my own personal predictions. Still a little surprised that there were so many sales. Of course, there were plenty of people at Gamestop at the launch, so I guess I shouldn't be.
In any event, Congratulations on the successful sale, Sony!
I've been happy with my own purchase. And it seems I have a friend who may be purchasing his own much sooner than he had planned. I may have even managed to steal a sale from Xbox One, too.
Speaking of which, I'll be curious as to how that one does in comparison. Data on console sales indicate that it should sell better in North America than it will in other places. So, seeing how strong those numbers are will be very interesting. Meanwhile, according to previous sales data, the PS4 should sell very strongly in Europe. So, seeing those numbers will also be interesting.

A single tear ran down Nintendo's face when they heard about this. Have they even reached a million WiiU's sold in NA yet?
According to VGChartz, the Wii U has sold 3.9 million units worldwide. Which puts it behind Playstation Vita (of the more current systems) at 6.15 million units. The Wii U has sold 1.63 million units in North America, for the sake of comparison to the PS4 sales.

While that is impressive, I'm a little disappointed that so many people were so eager to rush out and buy the thing despite all the news about all the stuff the thing WON'T do. In fact I believe the news about all the stuff it won't do outweighed the news about stuff it will do.
They bought into the pre-launch hype. Thing is, customers like that are easily swayed and they will leap right into things without a second thought. It's why the chest puffing announcement of "1 million sold!" doesn't really impress me, especially when you consider how front-loaded releases have been getting over the past few years. Give it until the end of year at the earliest and then we'll see how things go.
So, all one million people are just idiotic sheeple who will buy whatever someone tells them to?
Good to know.
