It is a little disconcerting that something as small as a glitch in the clock can completely take out the PSN, trophies, and completely disable half of one's game collection. I shall await the next bug to come Sony's way.

Well waiting out a day worked, didn't it? So there's no real need to complain about it. At least they Rectified the pROblem immeDiately, not just sit around and deny that there is a bug, then letting it fester until it blows over, leaving gamers pissed off and needing to send their consoles out to Mesquite, Texas after you just GOT THAT THING FOR 20 MINUTES AND IT ALREADY FAILS ON YOU!!!

*sigh* ...anyway, I'm glad they took care of it.

It's good news for the PS3 squad, I suppose, but fixing the problem by just waiting it out for a day isn't exactly the kind of big-bang-boom ending I was looking forward to. Anyone else out there feeling just a little let down by all this?
That's what I wrote in my E-Mail to Sony. What kind of service is that to keep people waiting for 24h? As a customer I want better service.
Sony makes it really hard to not hate the PS3.

I'm more concerned that the same thing will happen next year, especially since we know that they did nothing but wait it out.
If you played or had your system on over midnight that night your system remained unaffected and ran perfectly Like in the atricle no trophies have been permanately been loss and it was actually fixed around noon-5pm yesterday on the 1st.

Really though it's a hic-up rather than a virus meriting any real concern it's not it need ed to be repaired or a patch to be made (when the only rational way most would even find out is for the system to beable to go online when that was the feature affected.) Now if you had to send the PS3 out to be repaired for half a month even if it was payed for that would be cuase for concern since they basicly admit it's an issue they are aware is costly an often.

Wait, I take it you're not a PC gamer too, huh? Cause server maintenance on some games cause them to go down for about a day. Waiting 24hours for a free service (Hell, WoW makes used to make you wait a day, and they charged) is a small hassle, sure, but nothing worth complaining about.

I think my only problem was Sony's lack of updates. "We're aware of the problem," being sent out after 12 hours just doesn't cut it in this age of information. It really looked unprofessional and added to the frustration.

That said, meh... in a 24-hour period, we lost the ability to play a /few/ games and lost some trophies (that really don't mean anything in the end). Certainly nothing to get worked up about. In the engineering-scope of things this was a MINOR oversight.

Had this been the XBoxalypse instead, I'm pretty we'd have had millions of gleaming white game consoles running rampage across the globe, setting homes and crops on fire, diddling small farm animals, and then simultaneously exploding in a glorious nuclear holocaust ;-)

Those fat PS3's are nothing but a pain in the ass. Hell, mine is just a $600 paperweight, thanks to an ill-timed YLOD.

The Slims are superior in every way.

Damnit, Sony have foiled the plans that us XBL-Knights had taken so long to hatch.

We'll get you next time sony! Next time!

OT: Didn't affect me, I'm not phased :p, Xboxs don't have such problems ;) :p
RROD your post is now irrelevant.

Anyhow i have a slim so this didn't really affect me much apart from having no one to play with online.
I've had my Xbox for well over a year now and had no problems at all :p. So now half your post is irrelevant. Whatcha gonna do? huh? huh?
Simmer down fool, it was a joke gawd and what difference does it make if youve had your xbox for a year ive had mine since 2006.

The Zune had a similar problem a few years ago. The year rolled over and no one could listen to their music and they had to wait 24 hours for it to turn on normally and work as intended.

Does that mean in 2014 my PS3 will incorrectly think it's a leap year again and bug down too though? More to the point ... in 2012 will it bug out because it really IS a leap year?

And remember this for next, and all subsequent years, I guess? Sheesh. If I had a PS3 and had been affected, I'd be more than slightly annoyed by Sony's apparent 'don't care' attitude.
