Has there been any news about the "get flash and/or enable javascript or stop wasting my time" message that was on PS3.com while this was going on?
I agree, so if the "wait it out" tactic worked this time...Otterpoet said:I think my only problem was Sony's lack of updates. "We're aware of the problem," being sent out after 12 hours just doesn't cut it in this age of information. It really looked unprofessional and added to the frustration.
Yeah, the fact the Slims will be having their Leap Year in the 'dreaded' 2012 isn't a good sign.ColdStorage said:I agree, so if the "wait it out" tactic worked this time...Otterpoet said:I think my only problem was Sony's lack of updates. What about the PS3 Slim's?. on a leap year will they shut down as well?, and in 4 years time will my Phat model shut down for a day again as well?
Not only so I don't miss out on 24 hours of gaming every 2 to 4 years, but so I can carry on lording it up against owners of other consoles.Otterpoet said:Yeah, the fact the Slims will be having their Leap Year in the 'dreaded' 2012 isn't a good sign.ColdStorage said:I agree, so if the "wait it out" tactic worked this time...Otterpoet said:I think my only problem was Sony's lack of updates. If Sony wants to retain any credibility, they need to fix this now and keep its consumers informed.
Is this true?, thats atrocious! They also need to change their IHMO horrible customer service center. No support line should weed out keywords in your emails, reject said email, and tell you to 'look it up yourself.'
Lol, don't worry, i was joking too. Couldn't you tell? OT: Didn't affect me, I'm not phased , Xboxs don't have such problems
Anyhow i have a slim so this didn't really affect me much apart from having no one to play with online.
Bloody hell some people on the internet.
Mrm-hrm... even after I pressed the button to directly send to Customer Service, I received the following message:ColdStorage said:Not only so I don't miss out on 24 hours of gaming every 2 to 4 years, but so I can carry on lording it up against owners of other consoles.Otterpoet said:Yeah, the fact the Slims will be having their Leap Year in the 'dreaded' 2012 isn't a good sign.ColdStorage said:I agree, so if the "wait it out" tactic worked this time...Otterpoet said:I think my only problem was Sony's lack of updates. The Apocalyptic feeling was brought upon by wimpy PS3 players thinking it was the end of days... Poor kidsThe_root_of_all_evil said:It does have a feeling of apocalyptic-might-have-been.Andy Chalk said:Anyone else out there feeling just a little let down by all this?
When Humanity goes, it won't be with a bang or a whimper, just a
"We are sorry for any inconvenience. Things will be fixed in a future update. Thank you for trying the beta of Earth."
Oh come on. That's a standard feature of most online support sites -- after seeing it, and seeing that your issue doesn't match any of the ones it suggests, all it usually takes is a single button or link click to send it in anyway.Otterpoet said:Mrm-hrm... even after I pressed the button to directly send to Customer Service, I received the following message:

You can't wait a couple extra hours for the entire thing to just resolve itself instead of needing a 100mb firmware update that would take even longer to procure? Hell, not even a few hours depending on if it was a school/work day for you. The thing fixed itself without any pointless firmware update, what more could you want?ElZeru said:That's what I wrote in my E-Mail to Sony. What kind of service is that to keep people waiting for 24h? As a customer I want better service.Andy Chalk said:It's good news for the PS3 squad, I suppose, but fixing the problem by just waiting it out for a day isn't exactly the kind of big-bang-boom ending I was looking forward to. Sony makes it really hard to not hate the PS3.
Oh sure, 18 years of gaming is nothing.Snowalker said:Wait, I take it you're not a PC gamer too, huh? Cause server maintenance on some games cause them to go down for about a day. Waiting 24hours for a free service (Hell, WoW makes used to make you wait a day, and they charged) is a small hassle, sure, but nothing worth complaining about.
What more I could want? Something called service.Jumplion said:You can't wait a couple extra hours for the entire thing to just resolve itself instead of needing a 100mb firmware update that would take even longer to procure? You took more offense to that than I was implying, all I was saying is that its no big deal, people have had to wait a day to play games, as far as being pissed about not being able to play your single player games, yeah, it was a pain, but you have to play every single day? You couldn't take a break? You couldn't find something to do on the computer? You were mad because they did provide service, hell, It takes a while to release a patch ya know, and because of this, by the time they would have had a patch ready, the problem fixed itself. I'm sure they will work in a patch to fix it between now and next feb. I understand it was disappointing after working all day to come home and see that you're console was not working, but still, Sony has been apologetic about it the whole way through. Its not like they were trying to make us "fat" owners pissed, its just a bug they didn't think existed.ElZeru said:Oh sure, 18 years of gaming is nothing.Snowalker said:Wait, I take it you're not a PC gamer too, huh? Did I say (with any word) that it is not ok to put down a free service for a few hours or even a day? But we are not talking about a free service here. PSN was still online. It was the PS3 that failed. Also we are not talking about MMO games, do we? We're talking about games like Heavy Rain or even Army of Two that didn't work at all. And yes the PS3 was offline. No network connection.
I took no offense (never would on an internet discussion).Snowalker said:You took more offense to that than I was implying, all I was saying is that its no big deal, people have had to wait a day to play games, as far as being pissed about not being able to play your single player games, yeah, it was a pain, but you have to play every single day? The so called "yellow light of death" merely designates a general purpose error with no unified cause, and only happens on about 1% of PS3's. Which is odd, cause last I heard the failure rate for PS3's was 10%.lemby117 said:My xbox haz never had RROD besides PS3s have the yellow light of death 4 the same reason OVERHEATING I have both 360 AND PS3 and "shock" THEY ARE EQUALY GOOD but it depends what your friends are on and 4 me that is Xbox... Well, I know nothing about how patches work, but I would assume it takes some time. First they would have to identify the exact problem, find the bugged code, find a way to fix, or trash said code. If they trashed said code, they would have to find a replacement code, or if they knew how to fix it, find a code to do that. Then get it preped and tested for widespread use. Then send it out. I find it hard to believe they could do all that in less than 24 hours, but I could be wrong about all of that, too. So, yeah.ElZeru said:I took no offense (never would on an internet discussion).Snowalker said:You took more offense to that than I was implying, all I was saying is that its no big deal, people have had to wait a day to play games, as far as being pissed about not being able to play your single player games, yeah, it was a pain, but you have to play every single day? Sure I found something else to do but my plan was to play Heavy Rain.
The Problem is that people had to wait for the problem to resolve itself. Perhaps it's just me, I don't know. For me it's very disappointing to see that Sony can't fix a problem in time. Maybe fast and good service only exists in my world.
A firware update would take much longer to procure than 24 hours. Shit happens, the problem solved itself, and you could still play it during that time (well, I did at least, nothing really happened).ElZeru said:What more I could want? Something called service.
Sure I can wait a few hours but the problem is that I have only a few hours of spare time to play. Some people might have a job and waited all day for a nice game to finish the day? I'm not sure what line you have but 100MB is like nothing. I would love a 100MB firmware update to fix the issue within a few minutes instead of not be able to play when I have time for it.
