The Ender series, the first can stand alone if you don't want to read the whole series.
Agreed, but you really don't want to miss the second one.

Brave New World, Aldous Huxley.
Just read it, finally. Now I need to get to work on 1984.

Any short story collection by Phillip K Dick.
Any series by Isaac Asimov.
Any book by Robert A Heinlein.

My favorites are Stranger in a Strange Land and JOB: A Comedy of Justice. Both by Heinlein.

Try Hull Zero Three by Greg Bear. It's about an amnesiac man who wakes up on a dying ship with no idea how he got there and has to run from alien type creatures while trying to regain his memory.

Any of the Horus Heresy series, by a variety of authors, just google it.
OR
The Gaunts Ghosts series, by Dan Abnett.

They are all warhammer 40,000 related, but are very good books.

Dead space reminded me of Solaris but with no action and alot of talking.
Havent seen the movie though, but while reading it I couldnt understand how they could make a movie out of it.

Really? am I going to say it.....The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy!
This. But the volume with all five books in one. Occasionally someone will ask you if you're reading a bible. Because its bound in black. Best set of books ever, for the sheer weirdness of them.
