Pokemon: Are you loyal to your starter type?

I go with whatever seems the most useful and use it till the end game. I'm not one for HM slaves and since half of the 6 HMs are water types (Seriously) It'll be the 1st time I'm using 2. One being the water starter.

Always fire...Blaziken is the best, with his awesome fire skills and the Sky uppercut attack, mowed down anything in my path :3

Blaziken(fire) get high AP, and SA, even if a fire-resistant pokemon is against Blaziken, you do insane dmg with ex. Sky-Uppercut since Blaziken is fighting aswell. Pretty much my solution to everything...if fire doesn't work, use sky-uppercut xD

For the stater Pokemon I don't pick "type" favourite, I choose which Pokemon I think look cool the most (all three evolution). I admit however when I first place Red, I chose Bulbasaur because the game reccommend it is the good starter Pokemon but I end up replacing it. On FireRed however I chose Squitle instead.
I do however tend to keep balancing out the type picking and not to favour a type the most (I chose Bulbasaur in Red, Cyndaqil in Gold, Mudkip in Ruby, Squirtle in FireRed, Chimchar in Diamond, Turtwig in Platimun and Totodile in HeartGold). This mean I have so far pick 2 grass, 2 fire and 3 water so I going to pick either Snivy or Tepig when I buy White next(Well I picking Snivy regardless). Eventhough I intend to pick Snivy I'm not too sure if I going to keep it with me throughout the game since grass has a lot of weaknesses and there are other cooler looking Pokemon that could be more handy than Snivy.

I have deviated from my usual Grass-type once, and will do so again in Gen V. I chose Torchic over the rather strange looking Treecko in Emerald, and I'll be choosing the Water starter in White. I'm not really impressed with any of the starters this time, though.

Fire. Thats all that needs to be said. But ill say more anyways.
Ive chosen fire ever since i first picked up red version, i have always preferred the more aggressive types and fire just has my favorite Pokemon designs. Even the new Piggy.

I usually keep them for their type but by post-game I've usually replaced them in the games after Gold/Silver.

I'll probably pick the grass type this time around for the main game as I dislike it the least of the three but I can't guarantee it a lifetime place on the team.

I'd usually go with fire, some times change it in later playthroughs... "Usually" meaning until the stupid fire/fighting combo was always there... man that combo sucked...

I did start out choosing fire pokemon, but around the time I got crystal, I swapped to water. Since then I've always chosen water.

If i'm honest, neither of black/whites look particularly good. They've slowly gotten worse over the years. I suppose theyre running out of ideas.

I take the one that looks the best to me. And thats every time the bipedal lizard:
- Charmander
- Totodile
- Treecko
- no bipedal lizard, I hate that gen :<
- Snivy

With that way, I can get a fair learning of all the types.

I only have three set pokemon that I use, my starter, a Gallade and a Crobat, the rest are usually reserves for HM users

apart from that, I'll use either fire, or water as my starter, I've used grass a few times, and it never ends well...

I'm pretty much like you.
Until now, I've always picked the fire type and I've always kept them in my party.
It's not just because of the type but also because I've preferred the designs of the fire starters.
But I think that this piggy thing looks really stupid and his evolutions as well, so I'm not sure whether I should take fire or grass this time and the last evolution of the water type looks good too.
I guess I'll decide when the game will be released.

I usually tend to play the games as the trainer. So, I put my personal preferences aside and play the game as them. To this day, pokemon is the only series I've ever done that with.

My poke roots run deep, I guess.

I go for whatever design I like the look of best not by any particular type but I never abandon my starters ever, they are with me all the way through.

Heck it took me about 3 times as long to complete the game, or at least get past the first 2 gyms but waaaaaay back when I first played Red, my first one and I was very poor at the games back then heh, had no idea what I was doing, the only pokemon I used through my entire playthrough was charmander and its subsiquent evolutions.

In hindsight I feel quite proud of myself for that, even if people laughed at me at the time

Why do i get an image of a blue alligator/crocodile rending a platoon-sized army of lesser Pokemon in half?

OT: I usually leveled my starter to hell and back. My mudkip (don't remember the final evolution) was unstoppable. As was my Charizard, and that fire porcupine (cindequil?) from Gold.
