You know what? Looking back every single female trainer except the very first(crystal) had crazy short shorts/skirts. Why are there kids running around dressed like that anyway? On a side note, how does the hoen male have white hair? Did a Gengar get him when he was younger?

... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! That is fucking epic.

OT: Yeah she looka a bit trashy but compare her to the other girls from pokemon and she is the norm.
Misty, Dawn, the HG/SS girl... Kinda normal for them.

Are you kidding? The one on the left looks like a forty year old midget.

OT: She's wearing shorts. Get over it.

It didn't bother me to be fair. The protagonists are supposed to be in their later teens in Black and White and if she's 16 then that's fair game here in sunny (for once I use this genuinely) England.

Now if you want to get started on names:

Male: Red, Ethan, Brendan, Lucas and... Hillbert?
Female: Leaf, Kris, Lyra, May, Dawn and... Hilda?

Horrible. The best designs for me personally were Red and Leaf's, but Dawn and May aren't terrible and most of the guys have been okay... just hate their headwear.

EDIT: As for the shorts, are they pockets or are they just fashionable Oshawott themed shorts?

They should just let you make your own trainer. Or allow customizing it. No real reason not to.

I like the female protagonist of this game. The best one IMO. >_>

It's even my fucking avatar for crying out loud.

By the way, the her name is Touko.

It's actually a hat.

Two points:

It is definitely a Bandanna since she's what May is based off.

They are never going to outrun Rayquaza on a bike, or outfight him with a Magnemite.

They're 15 or so in B&W. They're teenagers at least. I don't think their age as been officially confirmed yet.
i see :p

i really havent been following pokemon after Ruby and Sapphire, considering how increasingly horrible the show and pokemon themselves have been getting :(

I think in the process of designing the Pokemon games, you have to prioritize your efforts. I personally love the new Pokemon (creature) designs and couldn't care less about how the PCs look.

EDIT: Also, jailbait. That is all.

I was talking about Brendan. Poster mentioned that he had white hair.

May is obviously wearing a bandanna, yeah.

You know, I saw outfits almost exactly like this when I was in high school. My first thought was "finally a female trainer who looks normal."

I, for one like her design. I think she's cute. A good mix of girly and tomboy.

Most of the trainers dont really dress like a realisicly in the Pokemon series.

I dont think GameFreak was trying to be sexist or make you look whorish, I think they were going for a character design that fits into the Unova region.

And it does. Unova is a high population, advanced place compared to Kanto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, or Johto. Obviously the characters will have a more modern dress style. And the shorts arent skimpy, it looks like a relatively acceptable futuristic dress style (compare that to Diamond/Pearl's skirt... Im sure that helped in the Frozen region of the game...) Even then, the skirt wasnt really that slutty or show-offy: they dont have your character do overly sexualized bends or include any fan-service.

Now, if they started showing panty shots, or gave a character a thong, then it would be time to be offended.

But look at Jessie from Team Rocket. Thats 100x skimpier than B/W.

Also, the Male characters dress isnt that much better. Considering the fact that the only male to look different in the series came in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, the male is just the same skin with poofier clothing.

Because this is what the Japanese see when they look at America. This game is there perception of America.

And I find it to be fairly accurate. Maybe I'd consider it odd if most girls over here didn't wear clothes like that on a regular basis.

As I aptly described to my girlfriend upon getting it:

The male trainer looks like an immense tool. I hate him.

The female trainer looks like she murdered a trucker, stole his clothes, ate his body, then assumed a new career in order to escape from the law.

I only chose the male trainer because I didn't want to be staring at the sprite of a trucker murderer.

Black & White are based on New York State.

All the characters in that game are based on the typical people of New York.

2+2=4
You mean the average 12 year old girl in New York State is a prostitute?

*EDIT* ok, at least 50,000 people have quoted me, most saying the same thing, so please stop quoting this. It's not that interesting reading mostly the same responses phrased differently.
She's 15, do the research. I like the way they look. It's actually realistic.
That's funny, i thought i edited my post to say that i had plenty of responses to that post and didn't think anyone could contribute anything new. You didn't contribute anything new btw.

I think she looks fine and the fact that the only complaint that people have with the game are the PC and a few Pokemon designs is proof that the game is better than it's ever been, I remember people complaining about glitches or exploits in every previous generation but not this time around. Just a bunch of prudes that scream slut when more than 2 inches of flesh are visible on a female body. And hell, I love that big ponytail!

I will never play a gen V game as anyone but Touko!
