I beat the game with Serperior as my main mon. He's actually not that good, but I made him work. Leech seed is basically the curse of death, then adding Giga Drain means his health almost never slipped below 50%.

From Gen 5 my favourite is either Galvantula or Haxorus...both or fucking epic!

However my all time favourite is Buizel <3

EDIT: Also useful tip for fire types, get a Darmanitan, with Sheer Force, Charcoal (or any item that boosts fire type moves) along with his STAB AND having the Best physical attack of all fire types means he can even fuck over a Gyarados with Flare Blitz! Giving him Fire Punch as well (Or Flame Charge to up his speed) so your not always taking Recoil, Earthquake to hit the Rock Types and then a Status move such as Bulk Up, and you have something that can kill almost anything in one hit!

Seriously, he is my Favourite fire type, excluding Cyndaquill

I have to make clear that I dislike most of the Pokemon of the fifth generation thoroughly and believe that the franchise kind of lost focus on the arrival of the fourth. However, two Pokemon that I can say that I like and would have on my team if I ever had to buy one of the fifth gen games would be Braviary and Darmanitan.
