Eevee. Definitely Eevee. Not an evolved one, but a straight-up Eevee. Those things are friggin' adorable!

Well...I do love dragons.

So, probably Dratini. Hopefully it would achieve some form of intelligence so it wouldn't be so damn boring.

Bagon would probably just headbutt my house to pieces...sorry!

Its gotta be Lucario. I don't know why, but I just find that Pokemon to be pretty badass!

Why would you not choose Ditto? It could imitate a hot-chick and then you could have sex with it! WIN!

I'm going with either Eevee/Cyndaquil for the cuteness factor (evolving Eevee into either Flareon or Umbreon at a later time), Snivy aka Tsutarja 'cause it looks cool, or Shinx, again for the cuteness factor and the badass it becomes when it evolves.

I'd probably just release it >_<

Pokemon are too intelligent to be kept as pets for my conscience to handle.
Have it as a friend instead (never put it in its pokeball ever (except for medical emergencies obviously)).

Arcanine. It's an intelligent, fire-breathing dog, what else do you want?

EDIT:

Cyndaquille because he can heat my tacos without me needing to get up.
Actually, on Heartgold, I first chose a Cyndaquil and when I turned to talk to it (we were in the 'long/ankle-high' grass) it said ti was rolling around on it's back! I was half-expecting it to either level up for insta-killing the infinite pokemon in the grass or for future encounters in that patch to start with burnt pokemon. (Alas, no such thing happened).

why? because i can. I'd have one of each. The common would be my pet, the Eastern would be the kid's pet, the European my show dog, and the American my guard dog (and secretly my baby who would be good with the kids). Yeah bring it how intruders. You're screwed if its raining, you'd never see it coming.

Ditto, but I would teach it to turn into objects instead of other Pokemon. I need a hammer, I have a hammer. I lost my house key, I would have my house key. Plus it would be easy to carry/take places.
