...OP, you'd do wise to let go of memories past. Buy a copy of HeartGold/SoulSilver and one of the Gen IV titles and you'll see that in truth, the series is still quite fine.

As someone who's having a rekindled discovery of pokemon (Haven't played since Ruby/Sapphire) you'd do wise to give it a shot.

Oh and trade some pokemon, it'll cut back on the biggest (And probably the ONLY) problem in the game... Grinding.

Not counting HG/SS though, having to fight the elite four over and over and over and over again to level up pokemon is a pain in the ASS. That's why I got a copy of platinum. I hate the differences in interface though, HG/SS has brought a nice and functional touch based control method that makes D/P/Pt's controls look like total shit.

A few things that you got wrong;

#1. Nintendo doesn't make the games. GameFreak does.

#2. You neglect to mention that there are already over 500 different Pokemon designs that already exist. You think that you could create something original and not stupid after creating 500 other designs? You, my good friend, are what can only be described as "Unthoughtful", or "Stupid" if you can't comprehend intellectual dialog.

#3. You thinking that you can somehow stop Nintendo's money-train by ranting on a internet forum.

While I agree with the whole "Pokemon is [insert word here that has the prefix 'un']" argument, there's no point in trying to convince people that the games need an extreme revamp when we all know that the next game will already sell millions, even if said game doesn't exist yet.
Well, while it isn't looking like an EXTREME revamp, Black and White is looking to make a good number of necessary changes...

And again, seriously OP, get over the nostalgia. I used to be JUST like you man. And then I bought HeartGold and completely realized how wrong I was. The remakes are such a fine example of what is good and enjoyable in pokemon that it's like, 'Okay, they may not break the mold and be groundbreaking video games, but they're damn well functioning and don't provide a whole mess of frustration'.

That's the way I feel. Pokemon, post Gen IV Gold/Silver remakes, is just pure 'fun'.

People like you need to realize that nerdy, angsty teenagers aren't the target audience. Those 10 year olds that think any of the new pokemon are super-special awesome? That's the audience that their looking for. Anyone older is just extra cash.

Although I liked the 2nd Johto theme better, I still miss the original anime :'( WHY DID THEY HAVE TO CHANGE THE VOICES?!
Oh 'hell' naw, THIS is the BEST OP without a doubt:

Really upbeat music, good lyrics, Advanced had the 'best' opening. Right after it would probably be... Master Quest.

The worst? Easily, Battle Frontier... Maybe Advanced Challenge. Even the Galactic Battle intro isn't as bad as Battle Frontier's intro.

Pokemon is a game made for kids. If you find yourself hating it, you've obviously outgrown it, and now it's time to move on. Nintendo milks the shit out of it because the generations behind mine and yours and so on like it. If they didn't, you better believe Nintendo would be quick with the incinerator. It's not for you to decide what people should and shouldn't like. You can only choose to participate or not. Personally, I don't like Pokemon, but it doesn't bother me because outside of this website, I don't pay any attention to it.
