...That's... so nerdy it's actually a little bit creepy.

This goes past the point of homage and starts putting toes across obsession.

Off topic, wow, there's been a lot of people appearing as Touhou characters at conventions lately.
Would you say that there'd be at least (9) [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evAJNCzU5TE] people dressed as Touhou characters? Perhaps there'd be (9) badges?

But yeah, a real-life Pokemon league sounds awesome, though my own Pokemon, despite their strength, are nowhere near level 100.
I'm pretty sure that gym leader's useless, only good for her sex appeal.

I believe pokemon agmes can now auto-level pokemon, though, so you don't have to worry about grinding.
EDIT: really should have read the second page

Nerdery at its most creative, fun and awesome.

Did I miss how Team Rocket is actually able to mess things up?
challenging you to battle I assume, weakening your pokemon, meaning the gymleaders could run off or you could run out of time

Cool idea and something I hope, though my Pokemon days are well over, to the UK as I know tons of people who would be up for this kind of thing were it to happen over here as well.

On a wider note, I think the coming of the Wii has had another effect apart from setting Ubisoft mental with their shovelware machine ploning a crappy title with too many Z's in it every ten seconds is that we're thinking more about face to face gaming than we would have otherwise. I've noticed more and more people asking for splitscreen and so on and I put it down to everyone having at least played Brawl or MKWii over the past few years and remembering the fun of facing off with your mates, passing the pad and so on.

I know we're all about the "hardcore" online shooters in the main but there's still a lot of us who enjoy playing face to face whether it's on the couch with home consoles or with DS/PSP by Wi-Fi/Ad Hoc with Pokemon or MH as well as pure Vs gaming. I think a lot of devs haven't included splitscreen modes because it would spoil their games' HD beauty but if we keep asking we'll get more and more devs doing the decent thing and embarrassing yourself and your mates in the flesh will be a common, or more common, experience than we might have imagined at one point. My eldest boy is always having splitscreen sniper face offs with his pals at home so the desirte is still there even in younger(he's 16)gamers used to the online anonymity of Halo or COD which I found refreshing. He would have loved to have been able to join in with this as well so, again, a UK event would be cool as.

Wow, why? They're just having fun playing pokemon. You can't really come to a site made for nothing but gaming and say that some people are being TOO nerdy.

If I could've been there, I totally would've gotten my own backside kicked just for the thrill of it.

That... is freaking... amazing.

As a born-again Pokeaddict, I highly approve of this.

Thank you so much for reporting on this, Funk! Out of all the things that PAX had to offer this league was by-FAR the coolest and most entertaining. Professor Pine and that group of people really knew what Pokemon is about. It was a beautiful thing and it was great meeting all the people who put this together and all the different people who competed.

That main picture on the article really should have been John's face when he got to the top of the elevators and saw everybody battling and pokewalking with the gym leaders - It was Christmas in September.
