I wonder what people would say if Activision or EA did this with one of their franchises? To each their own i guess.

How do we know that these are remakes in particular? The trailer advertises a new adventure in a new land. Could be some kind of sequel to RSE.

Yay, a remake of the two most boring Pokémon games beside Black and White 2!

This is exciting. I can't wait to get lost and confused around the overpass area again. Seriously, the map in this game caused me crazy trouble, and as far as I can tell, only me.

P.S. Thanks
no man the map was confusing as hell

You know, I could be pessimistic, but I'll buy the game, possibly both. I'm pleased I can play it :)

Hoenn... actually confirmed? It's as if thousands of bad jokes cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced...

Hopefully they reduce the number of needed HMs. 3 water HMs are ridiculous. 2 is workable. I'm betting Blaziken will get a second mega evolution like charizard, too. Hopefully Sceptiles Mega makes him look cooler. Treecko is cool. Grovile is awesome. Aaaand Sceptile is meh. Excuse the rambling, didn't feel like using proper English today.

Truth be told, I'm hoping that these games follow the story of Pokemon Emerald a tad more. I know that the pokemon story is hardly the main attraction to the games. I really found it obnoxious that ruby/sapphire would portray team magma/team aqua as the good guys when they were clearly "evil", just on different extremes.

Cool, I was a huge fan of the Third Generation and am interested to see how this goes. This does go a long way to helping Nintendo's financial woes right now though I'm not sure announcing a 3DS game when your Wii U console is floundering a great idea. Also, Nintendo, please release another Pokemon Colosseum game for the Wii U, please? It might just shut up the people wanting a more story driven Pokemon game and help with Wii U sales.
In all honesty there's not really any point to the Stadium series anymore; when you got down to it the purpose of the series was just see Pokemon in 3D. And now with the 3DS allowing that anyway the point of the Stadium series is kinda moot.

Anyway, I'd like to see what sort of improvements they're going to bring over from X and Y. I would expect it'll be in 3D since there's little reason NOT to use the X and Y engine. Maybe some new Mega Evolutions, Pokemon Amie, Super Training, Exp Share, etc. I never played Ruby and Sapphire when they came out, though with a remake that updates the games and with X and Y reigniting my interest in the series I'll definitely give them a whirl

Never mind, I confused "Ruby and Sapphire" with "Red and Blue"-remakes and thought this would be a second round of remakes for "Red and Blue". Guess I was a bit too quick and too cynical there.

I'm not so sure, While Pokemon Stadium for the N64 and Pokemon Battle Revolution for the Wii certainly did that, Pokemon Colosseum was different from the rest of console Pokemon games. They had their own region and own story, compared to Stadium's play a bunch of tournaments again. It played more like one of Pokemon's side games like Pokemon Conquest or Pokemon Mystery Dungeon rather than a Stadium game, Colosseum just used normal pokemon rules rather than creating new ones. It also contained one of the more darker Pokemon storylines and actual bosses rather than gym leaders.

Hoenn...

not my favorite region (that would have to go to Gen2), but certainly the one I remember best and have the most fond memories of

it was what made pokemon what it is today after all, with natures, passive abilites and the introduction of non-battle progression (I sunk SO MUCH TIME into those contests (fucking wobuffet always beating me in smart contests, destiny bond OP))

I hope we get to transfer pokemon from the bank to it, I still have my Master Cool Pikachu and Master Beauty Kyogre from Hoenn (they are my two oldest pokemon, the Pikachu has been part of my postgame team for every game since R/S, always with it's signature Red Scarf), it seems... appropriate that they finally get to return there :p

"Travelled Far Through Time" indeed, that pikachu has defeated team aqua and magma and escaped from a world where time stopped (damn berry glitch), seen galaxies born and die and vistied a world where everything is Not and even defeated GOD, witnessed the birth of gods and fought the incarnation of my past victories, seen the fulfilment of prophecies and the freezing of a continent, and even witnessed the world nearly come to an end. AZ has NOTHING on this Pikachu (hmm AZ, alpha and omega, clever nintendo ;P)

(wow, it's funny to think that I have pokemon older than FAMILY MEMBERS 0_o)

it'll be interesting if transferring a pokemon from the past version to the present unlocks anything, this is the first time it's been possible to make a "round trip" since you couldn't transfer from Gen2 to Gen3

Considering Nintendo has rebooted the first two generations, it seemed kind of expected that they'd do Hoenn eventually.

That being said, ALL. MY. YES.

I think a number of super fans saw this coming. Some even said a gen3 remake was hinted at in Pokemon X and Y.

I'm personally super excited, I've played all the core pokemon games and while gen2 is my favorite in terms of content, gen3 had the most memorable environments thanks to the weather system. A simple remake would be enough for me, but I'm excited to see what new things they come up with.
