Standard chains go from cute, to forgettable to badass, Dragonite is one stupid doofy-looking son-of-a-gun, where Dragonair is majestic.

Nidorino looks better than Nidoking
Vigoroth looks better than Slaking

Porygon looks better than any other Porygon evo
Togepi looks much better than Togetic
Marril is so much better than Egg-ril
Tangela looks better than Tangrowth
Magmar for all it's derpiness looks better than Magmortar
Dewott shouldn't ever evolve into Samurot

I'm gonna go with litwick.

i found him to be very cute ,for a soul sucking monstrosity, but Chandelure is just so lame looking.

This is my favorite out of the new versions. Litwick is very cool and can kick ass. I never evolved mine and even had the little guy (would actually be "gal", caught a female version lol) when I took the league. I can imagine having my Litwick light a library at night for some midnight cramming.

One that has bugged me a lot is Dragonair > Dragonite

Dragonair looks elegant and powerful, while Dragonite just looks akin to Duglie the Dragon or Barney the dinosaur. I wish Dragonair was the final form and Dragonite was just never created......seriously, fuck Dragonite!

Alos, Haunter looks cooler than Gengar

And a lot of the new evolutions added in gen 4 look terrible! The only ones I like are Porygon Z, Dusknoir and Gallade

...yeah, that totally hits the spot. Meanwhile the dopey otter became an awesome sea lion thing. Heck, how cool is torterra, to grow to eventually get a whole tree on its back?! Poor guys just didn't catch a break..

Most of them, to be honest. As they're cuter.

One thing I've noticed is that most Pokemon, when they evolve, become a lot less cute looking overall.

It's why I appreciate Pokemon like Mew who are powerful but do not evolve.

The worst part is that the gruffness? of the evolved pokemon doesn't even come close to their previous cuteness.

Thats all I can think of. I'm generally ok with second stage pokemon and their evolutions.
First stage pokemon look cutesy, second stage look like teenagers, and final stage look like badass adults; thats just how pokemon works.

I also don't remember the pre-evolutions name, but I remember it became Slaking.

Dude, I looooooooooooooooooooooooooove Vigoroths! Way better then Slackoths (The pre-evolution) and Slackings (The Post-evolution), especially since they can't attack every other turn thanks to their attribute. Meanwhile, Vigoroth can never sleep!

Iono man, Slaking can be annoying, but when you use giga impact, everything dies.
The only reason Slaking isn't pseudo-legendary status, is because of truant. If he could attack every turn, he'd be imba as fuck.
