The thought of remaking Ruby/Saffire is strange to me. They don't feel like old games, at least not in the same way the Red/Blue and Gold/Silver did at the time of their respective remakes.
Yeah, they still feel modern.

Ruby and Sapphire are odd games, the world seems different with things like the secret base and the expanded water areas.
Part of that is due to the fact that the game was updated to a point where the gameplay didn't feel dated. I went back and played yellow version and I can tell you that it's a terribly dated game. It has shit balance and is terrible glitchy and exploitable, and most pokemon had terrible movesets. This stuff was ironed out in the GSC and RSE eras which is why they don't feel dated.

Another reason the RSE era doesn't feel dated was due to the fact that the games are still close enough to this era to be similar in gameplay.

Also it'd be funny to see the Nostalgiatards who previously complained about Gen. III complain about the remakes.
This guy. I know that all people have their preferences based on nostalgia and the like, but people who claim their era had the best 'mons and all others suck are full of shit.

Eh call me when they release those games with the simplicity of Gen 1. The moment they started adding personalities and extra HMs, they lost me.
Won't be happening, in forever.

Change is what people ask for, that's what they got.

Only if they come with red and blue cartridges like the original Ruby/Sapphire. I liked Ruby and I did a shit ton of base customization, I had lots of fun with that. I fell out of Pokemon after Ruby/Sapphire, though. I wasn't at all interested in Diamond/Pearl, nor am I interest in Black or White. My favorite one was Silver/Gold, but I couldn't be bothered to buy Soul Silver.

I'd rather just an Emerald remake.

IMAGINE THE LEGENDARY EPIC CLASH BETWEEN THE THREE TITANS OF WATER, LAND, AND AIR, IN STUNNING 3D GRAPHICS.

RAYQUAZA DESCENDS FROM THE HEAVENS TO QUELL THE CENTURIES-OLD FEUD BETWEEN THE TITANS OF EARTH AND SEA.

You know, I don't think it would be as successful. As it just doesn't have the nostalgic quality that the previous games have. Gold and Silver just barely qualify for a nostalgia remake.

But then again, they'd might as well remake all of them at this point. I'd like a really good Yellow remake, first, though.

I think that the secret base element from Ruby and Sapphire could really go well with the street pass/spot pass function on the 3DS. Meeting people on the street and wireless connection was the main pitch of those games even though the execution could have been better than the wireless adapter. However I think it would have been very fun to meet trainers while walking then visiting their secret bases and battle them for experience once a day.

I liked that generation of Pokemon games and if they make it possible to visit other regions and expand the story a little so you can fight gym leaders again the way they did with Heart Gold and Soul Silver this could work out pretty well.

They'll probably make a remake sometime, but who can tell? I know I'll buy it just like I've bought most other games.

It's possible they will use a remake to launch into the 3DS for main series pokemon.

There are actually some things that pretty much say a remake is being made.
In B&W, the shoal salt and shoal shells return, yet play not use in the actual game. These only were used in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, so that is a clear indicator. Another thing returning is the dive HM, which also was prominently in 3rd gen. Overall, a remake seems incredibly likely.

These were my favorite games, and with updated graphics and B&W style cutscenes for the legendaries, I think they could do a great job for this. My real question is: what will they be called?

I don't know about you, but those games were EXTREMELY nostalgic for me, just as with Blue and Gold. There's a lot of people who love these games. In my opinion, they had some of the best things from any game, especially with the story.
