well, as there is now a large thread on how cool a new mon game would be, i figured that a tread choc-a-bloc full of current teams and tactics would be like. heres my team.

-Opener-
lvl 58 sneasel-quick attack, slash, faint atack, ice beam.

-the rest-
lvl 60 blastoise- surf, hydro cannon, skull bash, bite

lvl 61 slowbro- surf, psychic, strength, confusion

lvl 64 magmar- fire blast, rock smash, flamethrower, sunny day

lvl 62 magneton- swift, spark, lock on, zap cannon.

*any other pokemon im either leveling or have in storage.e.g tyranitar, victreebell*

I only have leafgreen, but my general tactics are:
my friend either opens with gengar or rayquaza, my sneasel can deal with both easily.

He takes a balanced team, but his love of fire means my water power is needed

He takes grass to counter my water type, so magmar sorts this out

he often takes a wailord. wailord is often owned by magneton.

however, i wish to have a more permanent sixth member of my party, so what can you guys suggest? are there any holes in my tactics? or does my party just not work?

post your own, and well have a look on how to up each others game.

Get Wid of pokemon and Play World of Warcraft =)
cause you know, they are so alike, it's a fair substitution. But hey, why not substitute one addiction for another

Bronzors, [who are only weak against fire] electrodes, and Koffings. Confuse ray, Imminity to most attacks, poison, and self destruct will infuriate your opponent into never wanting to fight you again.

dudes, i wanted constructive critiscm, not pissing about...

I hate WoW, it sucked the life out of my friend for 2 years, and i dont want to be like that.ever.

Charizard is right over in the pile of my most hated mon :p also, ive already got magmar, so no need to change really...

And no, dragonite would not take out my entire party. He is dragon/flying. ice beam = dead. zap cannon = dead.

have I said enough?

nice comment on electrodes, but i only have leafgreen, so thats bronzor out of it...

Oh dear.... Pokemon nerd coming through...

lvl 58 sneasel-quick attack, slash, faint atack, ice beam.

Quick attack is weak, Sneasel has terrible special attack so Ice Beam and Faint Attack won't work well. I don't know how you were able to beat Gengar and Rayquaza with this, unless your friend sucks...

-the rest-
lvl 60 blastoise- surf, hydro cannon, skull bash, bite

Needs Ice Beam. I don't know Blastoise very well but his attack power isn't fantastic.

lvl 61 slowbro- surf, psychic, strength, confusion

Get rid of Strength and Confusion and give it Amnesia or Calm Mind and maybe Ice Beam. You don't really need two water Pokemon on your team.

lvl 64 magmar- fire blast, rock smash, flamethrower, sunny day

Get rid of Rock Smash. I think Blaziken would be better, because then you have a strong fire-type and a fighting type.

lvl 62 magneton- swift, spark, lock on, zap cannon.

No need for Swift. Get Thunderbolt... I think it's important that you do.

I don't think your team looks very good. :|
Get a Dragon and Grass type and maybe a defender like your Tyranitar.
There's a whole site devoted to this stuff: www.serebii.net

Sorry about that. My Pokemon nerd side isn't very pretty...

yeah... ty for the comments... ill try for the amnesia + ice beam thing... what should i get for my sneasel? Im thinking shadow ball instead of faint attack, and maybe crush claw instead of quick attack?

for dragon, i have a level 51 dragonair that knows blizzard, double edge, dragon rage and shock wave.

grass is a tough one... would an exeggutor work? its psychic type means i can drop slowbro and it adds diversity to the group.

any more thoughts?

...And because the way pokemon is designed, we are all inevitably going to wind up using the same twenty pokemon.

That's what I really hate about pokemon. And before you start barking about Effort values, I've likely known about them as long, if not longer than you.
I just don't care about them. They only really matter for the same few dozen most powerful pokemon.

Right, pokemon metagamer comming through. I can give you advice, but I have a question first.

How much do you still want him to be your friend after the fight is over? I can give you suggesgions but use of most of them is liable to make him hate your guts simply because of how infuriating they are to fight.

Perhaps get a Sableye as they aren't weak against anything.
Dark: weak against fighting, immune to psychic
Ghost: weak against psychic, immune to fighting.
and resistance/weakness to ghost and dark evens out to regular, leaving 3 immunities, and resistance to bug. Downside is that the stats are quite "meh".

I would have also suggested shedinja, but your friend's pyromania makes that no longer a good choice.

Metagross is like Bronzong, only that you can't have the ground-type immunity from magnet rise (a move in Diamond/Pearl), but it still has very nice stats

Sneasel's quick attack is indeed weak, and not really needed as it's already fast enough. Replace with return and max out its happiness.
You're also lacking status specific moves. Yes, there are moves that have a small chance of doing something else, like confusion, but only a chance. Things like double team and confuse ray will help you out.

Spiritomb. ;)

Anyway, just slap the classic belly-drum, substitute'n flamethrower to your 'zard. Don't forget the fire-boosting items.
STAB+Ability+Belly Drum+item= Pwn't foes.
