Buy steam games online! same cost as everyone else, and ton's of fun!
(although you won't get a shiny box, but for a reduction of a lot of money, that's an acceptable sacrifice, right?)

Sounds like cartel-style price fixing.
It's painfully obvious when you consider the cost of shipping in bulk and the price to manufacture the unit (read: dirt cheap).

Aussies, stop whining about the prices. You're far from the people who have it worst. Right here, in Lithuania, for example, the games cost ~110 dollars as well, however the average disposable income is more than 3 times lower. And I'm not creating these idiotic threads.

Create threads with discussion value, please.
Fallacy: Strawman Argument.

Price gouging being worse in one country/region does not automatically discredit it as issue.
If we followed your logic, nothing would get discussed because "Africa still has AIDS and war, and they're a lot worse off than we are, so stop talking."

I blame the Aussie government for hating video games. However the American government does too, so who knows?

First off, what is 'cud'?

Secondly, can't you buy the games from Europe or America for their average Dollar/Euro price and get a discount on them? Isn't that what Yahtzee does? I honestly don't know here so don't yell at me ><
<link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cud>Meet cud. Cud is disgusting.

Yeah aussie prices are pretty horrendous. I've spent $110 before too :\

But get this, I moved from Perth to Vancouver. So I enjoyed the $60 for new releases but I still much rather be in aus. Why?

Minimum wage Vancouver: $8
Minimum wage Perth: $12

My wage in Vancouver: $8
My wage in Perth $20

Its not as bad as you think

Yep, I live in Australia and it is ridiculous. I only get new release games now if I think that they're something really special, otherwise I just get old ones ($50 for a three year old game can be considered a bargain...ugh)

American Escapist you buy games for about $60 we Aussies buy them for nearly Double.

at first i thought it was because of the American Dollar was greater but now the Aussie currency is about the same now.

Why should we have to pay $110 for a video game thats purely unfair and a dog act. Surely there has to be a solution that will make Aussie Games cheaper.

i understand the whole shipping cost even a 30 dollar decrease would make me feel a bit better.

But its purely unfair
It's because of the taxes, import/export costs, and the currency, I know you said it's almost the same thing, but currency value changes every day so the have to put that in a higher level so they can be sure to not lose money.
I'm from Mexico it's almost the same thing but, if you analyze every thing I just told you'll understand.

Well here is a question. How much is your minimum wage there? I mean here it is now 10 bucks and change an hour so I have to work 7 hours to get a game (and it just recently went up to $10 it was like $8 not that long ago) you gotta take that into account.

Those prices are almost as bad for your wallet as your poll options are for my brain! HIIIIIIIYOOOOOOOO

Yeah they probably should be cheaper, but that won't happen till at least the end of this generation (the next generation having a different pricing). There is something to say for the added cost of transporting the games to Australia, paying customs and whatnot, but it is definitely inflated because game companies assume you will pay it. Don't like the price? Don't buy. If Publisher X sees cheaper games sell better, they might be interested in reducing the prices of their games to maximize profitability.
You realize that one generation does just die off and is replaced by another that does things differently right? People are being born and dying all the time......

Honey, you are paying too much for games.
EB are ripoff merchants. I alternate between JB-Hi-Fi abd Gametraders.
Also, waiting a few months helps the prices come down substantially.
Boycott EB, you'll be alot more financial.
