Here is what you do.
First ignore everything in this thread, then find out if your friends have a Xbox 360.

Then go over to that friends house and play on his 360 to see if you like the way the console works.

But if you watch movies more than you play video games get a PS3, blu-ray and all that.

What do u mean, "this console generation is half-way through" ??? do u really think in a couple years that microsoft, Sony and Nintendo will all release new consoles? It'd be too soon and a big waste. When we start running through hardware like that, the console market will crash, i think...

While it's been rumoured we'll see a new XBox as early as 2011, that's still a pretty lnog span for a console and still gives you 2+ full years with your 360. And it's not as though you need to adopt early next gen. While Microsoft dropped the XBox as soon as the 360 came out, I don't think they'll do the same with the 360 when the XBox 3 is released. There seems to be a lot more support this time around.

Also, Sony has a 'ten year plan' for the PS3, meaning they won't be releasing a PS4 until 2016 or so. That gives Microsoft longer than the standard five years to develop a successor, and I'll frankly be surprised if we see the XBox 3 before 2013.

I wouldn't be too sure. The Xbox only lasted 4 years before it was dropped from the face of the earth.
Because it was a failure, once they had something new to sell there was no reason to keep supporting it once they had their new console out and Microsoft needed to focus on getting ahead of the PS3 before brand familiarity and loyalty destroyed them again.
The 360 is actually holding up well against its competitors and will continue to generate revenue for Microsoft.

That was microsoft's fault. They couldnt get away with that again, especially with the price of new consoles and their competition.

I prefer the PS3, but the Xbox 360 has its own advantages. Better online, though you have to pay for it, and it's cheaper.
