3d game presentation is nothing new. I had a gfx card with 3d glasses back in 2002 with the GeForce4Ti. You just need a monitor with a seriously high refresh rate (>=100Hz), which is not far off either (I think this has been the restrictive aspect on the technology to date).
I'd expect to see it becoming a standard part of the game in the next year or so. As for the quality - I've never tried it but the glasses aren't too bulky from my experience.

Yes, it is a gimmick - but it's really not that big an implementation issue - you're simply providing two camera views instead of one on the same world. I can't imagine a software house would find that difficult. Of course there's a 50% hit on the level of graphics, but with the latest cards you can still carry it off...
