Right, as you all know, we're kiiinda in an unexpected gaming flood right now, mostly thanks to a particularly popular videogame... buuut this thread isn't playing the blame game, so no names shall be mentioned [sub](*cough*Modern Warfare 2...*cough*)[/sub]

Because of this, I've been having a bit of a dilema.

So far this Feburary, I've been saving my precious £40 for Heavy Rain... however, after a rather mediocre review from Games Radar (a 7/10 with lots of criticisms on the plot, one of the most intruiging parts of the game), I've kinda lost my confidence in the movie game. However, other reviewers seem to think that its pretty good (metacritic average of 90, afterall...)

Now, since this there are a couple of other games that I've been eyeing: Bioshock 1 and 2.

Unfortunately, I can't get both just yet... however, despite not actually playing it, I know a large amount of the plot twists and ending and whatnot in Bioshock 1, thanks to the internet. So I'm tempted to skip the first one and go straight to Bioshock 2, but then again... I might have missed certain sections of the first game...

So! Do I go for Bioshock 1, despite knowing some of the story, skip it and go for the number 2, keep to the plan and get Heavy Rain, go for a different game entirely, or take a trip to the local pie shop? I can't decide!

edit: oh by the way, when I say pie shop, I don't mean any old pie shop... Sweeny and Todd (yes, Sweeny and Todd, and I'm pretty sure they don't put people in the pie...) is known to be one of the best pie shops in Britain. Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to go there yet, despite being just a bus ride away from it... so, keep in mind, it is a genuine possibility.

You should get pie
I would say Bioshock 2. Get the first one later on when you have some spare cash and find it on the cheap.

Heavy Rain. I didn't like BioShock that much, so number two doesn't really appeal to me, but Heavy Rain looks like it's going to be great.

Edit: http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/heavyrain Yes, 90%. Terrible.

Sweet christ, in what world is 70% mediocre. Do you need any more proof that the ratings system is irreparably messed up.
I'd say Heavy Rain, cos I have massive man-love for Quantic Dream.
Of course, the correct answer WOULD have been "Pre-order Bioshock 2 off Steam, get Bioshock free" but you're too late.

How about not buying any, trying them out as rentals or something, and THEN deciding if they are worth buying?

Just my two cents.

Go indulge yourself in the expierience of one of my favorite games: Psychonauts
Ya might have to look on the internet for this one. It should be around 25-30 pounds.

PIIIIIIIEEEEE!

Seriously, pie's awesome, and you should totally get it.
You could get apple, plum, chicken, pork etc.

Seriously though, I would get Bioshock 1, unless you have a real reason for wanting heavy rain. See what people think of it first.

Being a lover of BioShock, I'd say my answer is clear, however, it isn't anything too revolutionary, so if you're after originality, go with Heavy Rain. If you're after interesting narrative and fun action, BioShock is the way to go. You need to play the first one though, not even to understand the story, just to view the spectacle that is Rapture.

I voted Bioshock 2, since it's available atm, and heavy rain, though the prospect is extremely awesome, isn't playable yet. So hoping you have a form of cashflow, you'll be able to get heavy rain by some time, since Bioshock will probably keep you buisy and entertained for some time.

I've not seen that much of Heavy rain, but what I have seen looked...crap and somewhat boring (I seem to remember a 10 minute long fight scene/quicktime event).

So I'll have to go with Bioshock 2, for now.

I don't really like the things I've seen of Heavy Rain so far, but what do I know? I don't even have a PS3. Anyway, you shouldn't put too much stock in what the reviews are saying, tastes differ. I'm not really knowledgable on the Bioshock front either, but I think getting the first game might make a future purchase of the sequel easier to make.

You could have gotten Bioshock 1 free if you preordered 2 on steam.

I'd say Mass Effect 1 and 2 but I'm bias, I love those games.

Heavy Rain is supposed to be amazing, and it was made by the same studio that did Indigo Prophecy (which to me was a terrific game). I would go with that since Bioshock 1, while enjoyable, can suck up a ton of time and the sequel (from what I have read thus far) it amazing but doesn't quite live up to its predecessor.

I am assuming you own a PS3, or else you wouldn't have listed Heavy Rain as an option so I guess Mass Effect 2 is out of the question. And pie is always amazing...so you might want to buy one mince meat or tart or something awesome and good along with the game. But go with Heavy Rain...right now, because of it, I regret not owning a PS3.
