7/10 is mediocre? Is that a 10-point scale which is actually just a five-point scale because numbers 1-5 are unused?Simalacrum said:snip
Anyway, you can't go wrong with BioShock 2. Russ Pitts implied so in his review.

if you actually go see the gameplay reviews you'd know it is a new concept, the way in which you play the game is through constant and diverse choices not seen before in this context, flaws are relevent and tested, and death is always a possibility....don't base your opinion on just trailers, it doesnt work for movies i dont get why it should for games.Jaranja said:*Watches trailer*Onyx Oblivion said:Umm...Have you seen Heavy Rain?Jaranja said:Originality doesn't make a good game.Onyx Oblivion said:Heavy Rain. Mass Effect 2, now!
Christ, that was awful. She better not be in the game with that awful voice. Maybe there's one that isn't mind-crunchingly boring.

No, it's still not doing it for me. That music was plain awful, especially for that trailer, and serious uncanny valley issues. Maybe it was just an awful trailer. Good graphics though. It looks like I would like it as much as Indigo Prophecy, even though it wasn't that good anyway. In fact, it looks like Indigo Prophecy. Why don't they try another idea?

you shouldnt skip bioshock1 because if u play 2 then decide to go play 1 ull find it lacking and that wil be no fun.oh ya, i suggest bioshock,in the dark, alone. it adds to the effect

I've thought of doing this, but I usually beat the game by the time I have to return the rental, so no point really.Twad said:How about not buying any, trying them out as rentals or something, and THEN deciding if they are worth buying?
Just my two cents.
Alright fine! I'll try the bloody demo. I loved the powers above the guns. I'd use those powers to hell. I rarely ran out of ammo. When I did, it was with Assault Rifles (when I got them on my evil person) or Sniper Rifles (on my Neutral Infiltrator).Composer said:favoritism my good man favoritismJaranja said:You have other guns/powers.Composer said:im not trying to get on ur nerves man, if bioshock wasnt an actual option i would have prolly said mass effect2, the only issue i have with that game is i end up with no ammo for my heavy pistolJaranja said:No, this is 4 people trying to force their game down my throat and me giving my opinion on a two trailers I watched. Because if you win, you win big. Bioshock isn't exactly what I call "A unique experience", while Heavy Rain seems to be just that. The risk is greater for Heavy Rain, but so is the potential reward.Plurralbles said:*snip*
But that's what I mean, why put up a ton of money on a gamble?
There are button matching sequences, but they're mostly optional. The button matching will come up, and you make the decision whether you want to match it or not. If you do then that action occurs, if you don't the game moves on to the next button matching. In this way, you choose the direction of the game, since sometimes matching the button is actually bad.Jaranja said:Oh, OK. There aren't any button-matching sequences. The games are not the same at all. I was told to watch a trailer and both were horrible, in my opinion.Pingieking said:It's actually significantly different from Indigo Prophecy.Jaranja said:*snip*
I hesitate to call the mechanics of Heavy Rain "a series of QTEs", because you have the choice of not doing them (and apparently sometimes it's better not to do them).
That all sounds very... bland, to me. I guess we just find different things interesting. I saw a gameplay clip and it looked okay.Pingieking said:Because if you win, you win big.Plurralbles said:*snip*

I hesitate to call the mechanics of Heavy Rain "a series of QTEs", because you have the choice of not doing them (and apparently sometimes it's better not to do them).
For example, imagine a chase scene of you chasing down a criminal. A bunch of QTEs come up, and if you match it, then you catch the criminal. If you miss one, then you stumble/bump-into-something and fall behind a bit. If you miss too many, then the criminal gets away. The difference is that depending on WHEN and IF you catch the criminal, the story will differ. Maybe catching the criminal will result in your character getting killed (so it might be better to fail the QTEs). Perhaps by letting the criminal run a bit farther, you meet another person and the story becomes different from the plot you would've got if you caught him earlier.
It's this semi-QTE system that has me very interested.
That is an interesting mechanic, but all you get for buying it now is that you can be in the gaming discussion of today when it's a hot topic, but you're still out $40 you could have kept if you just get Bioshock 1.Pingieking said:Because if you win, you win big.
