You'd be better suited asking this to non-console owners, since they're the ones who are more at issue. Asking people already locked into the system about this is like asking Fox News viewers if they think Fox News is fair and balanced. Then again, the intent of this thread appears to be self-reaffirmation. If so, well, umm....I'm glad? I don't know. Nothing wrong with self-affirmation.

But Nintendo trying to appeal predominantly to Nintendo fans results in angry shareholders and misses sales projections. You may not care about those things, but I'm sure Nintendo does.

Third-party titles aren't for the people who will buy a Wii U for Nintendo games specifically or for people who will buy the console for one or two games. They're for the "everybody else" Nintendo very obviously wants to court.

I'll just skip the whole AC and CoD part of the question and get to the meat of the issue: Do I care that Nintendo consoles tend to have far worse third-party support than the competition and just bad third-party support in general? Yes, I do, because it often means that I have to invest in more than one console, and the Wii basically left me questioning how much more Mario and Zelda I'm willing to put up with to know that I'll have to spend so much more extra money to play the games my friends are actually talking about. Yeah, I'll probably still stick around for Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and other franchises, but whether or not I care much about the lack of AC or CoD games on the Wii U, I do care to some extent that I have to spend an extra $200+ just to play my favorite Nintendo franchises and play all the other games that I want to play, and those other games happen to be the ones that I can discuss with friends about over a game of Catan or Magic.

Nope, no interest in either series.

I'm more irritated at not getting any multiplat Tales or other such games.

For my library? Not in the slightest. As a sign to other developers that "hardcore" games cannot sell on the WiiU? Absolutley.

I'd say i care... Slightly.

For the consoles sake. I don't give a shit about the games.

Nope... Because I don't even play those series to begin with...

Then again, I did care about Watch_Dogs enough to want to buy it for the Wii U... So, take that as you will, I guess...

Nope. The main reason I own a Wii U and not a PS4 or Xbone is because I'm loving the exclusives it has. I'll take Wonderful 101, Mario Kart and Monster Hunter any day over Assassin's Creed and CoD. With Bayonetta 2 and Hyrule Warriors coming out I doubt I'll even bother picking up the latest Assassin's Creed at all.

Well, to be fair, as someone who has an aging PC and can't really afford to upgrade I'm kinda interested in multi-platform titles on the Wii U.

While Ubisoft has been flippant towards the Wii U, their support for PC has been far from satisfactory over the past few years, and their optimization has only been getting worse. And I like Black Flag well enough to not immediately write off whatever they're doing next with the franchise, though the split to two titles this year has certainly exasperated me.

I dunno, I'd like to see Assassin's Creed on the Wii U just for variety's sake more than anything else, I suppose. Less games on a system seems like it would only be good in extremely specific circumstances, to me.

Not really...
I don't play CoD anyways, Assassins Creed though. I got III at launch (WiiU launch) and now when IV went down to 15? on the Eshop I bought it so I have something to play after I finish Wonderful101 and before Hrule Warrior is released.
The AC games are pretty entertaining, but nothing I can't live without.

Honestly I'm more interested in the impact not having these games has on Nintendo's gamers and whether for non Nintendo owners this is a deal breaker. I only segregate the Wii U guys because it seems that 3rd party is segregating them.

Honestly it's interesting how little interest these two series are getting kind of apathetic responses from gamers everywhere I've asked regardless of how the sales figures say different.

Let's just say I'm curious.

Mixed feelings really.

On one hand I'm not bothered because, barring AC4 which I bought on Wii U because it's on sale at the moment,I've played all the CoD and AC games on 360.As I'm hoping to get either an Xbox One or PS4 later this year I'll just continue to play those series on whichever console I get

On the other hand it's pretty annoying that 2 of the biggest publishers have pretty much stopped supporting Wii U

I don't really play your standard, yearly AAA franchises anyway.

I don't play FPS games on consoles because I cannot aim with a thumbstick, I need a mouse and KB.

Assassin's creed has never really interested me, I've tried a few games in the franchise and all I can say is "meh".

I own a Wii U because there are games I want to play, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Zelda (WindWaker HD, the new zelda and hyrule warriors), Mario kart, super smash bros., Bayonetta 2 etc etc

I also own a PS4 because I am interested in Final Fantasy XV, KH3, No man's sky, Last of Us HD, Infamous etc

When Ubisoft said the other day that they won't be bringing those big games to the Wii U I couldn't help but think "so what", I couldn't care less if generic yearly shooter #986 doesn't come to the Wii U... I'd much rather play Splatoon anyway.

(I also own a Vita, 3DS XLx2, PS3 and X360.. I am a JRPG fan and collector, which is why I have no interest in the Xbox One at the moment.)

I'm gonna go on record and say that I have never played CoD or Assassin's Creed.

So no, I don't care.

Personally, I just can't wait for the day consoles go the way of the dodo and every game ever made can be offered on Steam. I'm personally fed up with systems coming out and forcing me to buy them just to get the next big game. As of right now I only plan on getting a PS4. Do i care about Wii U? No!

But here's the reason why I'm posting on this thread at all... here's a question that would matter to me about the Wii U: What would it take for me to gt one?

Well... to answer that question, it would be the system having a much wider selection of 3rd party titles than Wii original ever did.

But after all this time, I find it very disappointing how Nintendo continues to be rock headed about 3rd party titles, and HONESTLY... I feel like it's going to be the end of them.

I've heard people say this is either the last or next to last generation for dedicated consoles. It seems they're moving further and further away from dedicated game machines, and moving toward media devices.

The thing is, if these are the last/second to last generation of consoles, the dedicated (Non-mobile) video game market will experience a massive shrinking. A lot of people on the Escapist may say they have a PC and console mix, but the general public? Not at all. Heck, not all the PC/Console gamers have desktops that can run games from within the past year (I know I can't, and I do not have the money to upgrade to a better PC. And no, the "it costs less than $400 to upgrade" is complete bullshit). I will say that the PC dominant gamers are exaggerating their "importance" when the reality is that they're in the same boat as console dominant gamers. If one "market" for games goes, there will be a shrinkage in the industry that will damage said industry. Are consoles important? Yes. Are PCs important? Yes. Is one more important than the other? No.
