I think the OP wins the award for "Guy least likely to be spoken to at a party". Now I feel telling you I'm English would irrevocably link me to centuries of history I never took part in, as well as assuming all English people are some sort of hive mind that think the same things. Oh, as well as exposing me to hateful nationalistic rhetoric. (Seriously, won't support a single English athlete because they're English and that's it? I'm sure these athletes were among the very first to cry for Welsh subjugation.)

Also, "British" is much easier for the rest of the world (not to mention the fact that it's correct in geographical terms). If you had "Welsh" on your passport the odds are the customs guys would be unsure where you came from for one thing. Unless you're thinking countries attain global significance the moment their origin changes to become a bit more specific.

Guys, I think we can give it a rest. Obviously nothing we can say will persuade OP; they are clearly extremist and unreasonable. At least that's how OP comes across... I'm sure OP is a fine person when they're not talking about the English.

Ummmmmm Welsh IS the National Language of Wales I know the English want to force the whole world to speak English but *NEWS FLASH* some countries do actually LIKE to speak thier own National Languages, as much as that will shock the self absorbed English.
You think I even care that you're one side of the border of another. I care that there are children in my country (as in UK) being taught science in a language they don't speak.

I'd class that as abuse myself.

Edit, Fail quote
So let me get this straight, you are complaining because children in WALES are being taught in WELSH....what next are you going to complain that children in France are being taught in French or children in Germany are being taught in German????
The children don't speak welsh, yet they are being taught in welsh, and the parents, who also don't speak welsh and have no desire for their children to, have no recourse.

Once again, nice and simply: Its not a good idea to teach children, in a language they do not understand.
You'd be better off banging your head against a brick wall with this one.

Nothing but hate and bigotry.
It is hate and bigotry to teach children the language of the country they are living in, how would you fell ok if all the children in England were forced to learn everything in Arabic?? Why should the people of Wales be ok with their children being forced to learn everything in English, it is that view that is bigoted, if you moved to Japan, Germany or Russia you would not complain about your children learing the languages there so why should Wales be any differnt.
If they can speak English, can understand English and wish to be taught in English, then they get taught in Welsh, then I would have a problem with it. In fact that's what everyone has a problem with.

If they want to learn it, fine, let them learn it. We have no problem with that, but gimping them intellectually because you want to appear "less English" is ridiculous. Its not the same as people in France being taught in French because everyone in that classroom can understand French. If we were forced to learn everything in Arabic we wouldn't be ok, because we don't understand it, much in the same way that wonderful 1 in 5 children in Wales can't read or write when they get to year 7 or so of their education because they're being taught in Welsh, a language they probably don't understand.

Jesus Christ my family aren't even English and I get that.

SO when the English are proud of their country and keep going on and on about "1966" and "INGERLAND" it is ok and it is patriotic, but when someone from Wales or Scotland does the same it is racist, bigoted, extremist and unreasonable.

If each country in this so called "United" Kingdom is equal then tell me why there is no Welsh presence on the Union Jack also that the "Prince of Wales" is English and not Welsh compleatly ignoring the fact that Wales had a Royal Family for hundreds of years and also the the Tudor Royal Family which included Henry the Eighth and Elizabeth the First were descended from Welsh Royalty, the last native Welshman to hold the title of Price of Wales was in the 1300's and was also the last Welsh King ( and Welsh folk hero(see Meibion Glyndwr(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meibion_Glynd%C5%B5r))) Owain Glyndwr.

Captcha - Burning Oil, seem very apt for this topic.

No. If I had my way we'd all be classed as citizens of the world first, then narrow it down to countries just after.
I like to be as general as possible, therefore, British would be best.
I really don't give a fuck though, I'm pretty much the opposite of patriotic for Britain or England.

Although I consider myself English, I'd stick with British on my passport to not feel like a traitor to the fact I'm - strictly speaking - half Welsh.

I am proud to be English. I love my heritage, I love the castles, I love the countryside, even the weather - it isn't gonna kill me at any rate - I love the politeness of English people, I love our weird and wonderful language.

Do I care about Scotland / Wales / Northern Ireland in the same light? No.
Am I proud to be British? No.

But you're not doing that, you're just blaming the English on all your problems.

Why isn't the Duke of Cambridge actually from Cambridge? HERPA DERP. It's ceremoniously giving him a part of the Kingdom, and like it or not Wales is in that Kingdom.

At least the Duke of Cambridge is English, is it too much to actually want a Welsh Prince of Wales, I think Wales is the only country in the World where the ruling Royal Family is not from the Country it is ruling.

Because that's not how the Royal Family works. They're the Royal Family of the entire United Kingdom so we're not going to designate different monarchs to different areas of the country are we? And BTW the Duke of Edinburgh isn't Scottish, which leads onto my next point:

Other than Scotland and Northern Ireland? Did you forget about them? Oh, and Prince Philip (the current Duke of Edinburgh) is Greek. And Princess Grace of Monaco was from Philadelphia. The nationality doesn't make a difference.

EDIT: And what about the Commonwealth? Pretty sure old Lizzie isn't simultaneously Canadian, Australian, Jamaican, from New Zealand and wherever else she rules over.

Except Britain...where the ruling family is technically German...

Your logic just fails so bad, you neglect all the other people who raise any valid criticism of your arguments, and choose instead to keep harping on about the same topic.

I think that the United Kingdom should say a big "FUCK YOU" to being separate countries, and just join everyone together just so you can stop being a bigot.

I'm a British Briton from the British country of England. So, yeah, British'll do.

I also increasingly associate people who insist upon saying "I'M ENGLISH" as being annoyingly nationalistic and likely racist.

Uh... Canada and Australia?

And yeah, it is kind of too much to want something which means fuck all. It's a ceremonious title for a ceremonious tourist attraction (the Royal Family, not Wales). How do you propose you get a Welsh Prince of Wales? They're the Royal Family for the UK, and Wales is a part of the UK.

Yeah, I hate how the "English government" has such utter control over everything. Y'know, what with all the Scottish/Welsh/Irish MPs being able to vote on matters that only affect English people, but the reverse not being true ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Lothian_question ). Oh, and that Scottish Prime Minister we had a couple of years ago, who was Chancellor of the Exchequer for years before that. Yeah, all totally English.

/sarcasm

Seriously, there's no such thing as a separate "English parliament." There's a National Assembly for Wales, a Scottish Parliament and a Parliament of Northern Ireland, but no purely English equivalent.

And while we're on the subject of you having English rule forced on you, I guess all us English should throw off our Germanic shackles imposed on us by the Saxons. Or rally against Scandinavian imperialism because of the Vikings. Or reclaim our liberty from the French after that nasty 1066 Norman Conquest business. How far back do you want to go? Hell, pretty much everyone in Europe (and parts of Africa and Asia) should fight back against those bloody Italians. In the immortal words of Monty Python: Romanes eunt domus!
Hey, you're using Logic and reason... and faaaacts.

We don't like that round these parts. We'd rather hold on to ignorance and bigotry because blaming all of the worlds woes on [inset boogyman here] helps us put the world in an understandable perspective and helps us sleep at night.

Please leave with your thinking and whatnot.
*hangs head*

I'm sorry, I promise I won't do it again... can I still be part of the club now?

I wonder how the English would feel if the UK still looked like this and they were ruled by the Welsh instead of being the ones in power and control.

(pic snipped)

The English have also screwed over the other nations, they closed every Coal Mine in Wales and ruined thousands of Welsh Families before they even considered closing ONE English Mine.

In sports I will NEVER support England, in the Olympics I will support Welsh, Scottish and Irish athletes but I will not support one English Athlete.
Y'know... that's one of the silliest things I've read/heard in a long time. Really, the Welsh are English and the 'English' are a hybrid version of Danish/German/French. The English haven't been English for almost a thousand years.

Besides, I find it amusing that you rage about 'the Three Lions' when that was the crest of Llewelyn ap Gruffud/Ein Llyw Olaf. And you can alternately blame him, Dafydd and the Longshanks for any misfortune that befalled the Welsh nation, which I hasten to add, by this time as an independent state was no more than the north-western corner of modern day Wales. So you can hardly go hating on most of us, perhaps particularly my ilk and all (seeing as how I'm ostensibly a Chinese Britisher).

See, if everyone thought like the way you're coming across now, the following:

Germany would want to invade both France and Poland again, owing to (legal) suzerainty over Silesia, Prussia and Alsace-Lorraine at certain points in history.
Russia would want to claim back fuck knows how much.
China would want to invade Siberia because y'know, everyone knows how the Chinese Empire included most of the eastern half of the Eurasian landmass.
Sweden would want Finland back, as would Denmark over Iceland and Norway.
Lower Schleswig would be rebellious because they're Danish.
Native American Indians would seriously fuck some shit up in NA.
Aborigines and Maoris should start going around killing anyone they see with white skin.
And South America would be a bloody mess within a couple years.

Hate to burst your bubble of racial hatred but aren't most of the politicians in the English parliament Scottish? Also the English crown did end up with a Scot family (King James I of England who is King James VII, or VII, of Scotland can't remember which), of course it then went to the Germans.
Sixth, but who's counting. Even so, that's pretty much the same point. The Monarch of England was only really English for about two hundred years after which they were always some random combination of various Europeans.

Ah, now, see, you're being anti-everyone else, as opposed to pro-Welsh. I can appreciate a fine Shane Williams try like the rest of us, but when someone stands up to tell Owen Farrell to fuck the hell off when he lands a 40m penalty, that's what you're doing right now.

Erm... no, but good lucky trying to find someone who is willing to take the part. The Royal Family is mostly German (still, though probably not for long), the Dutch and Belgian Royal Families are all Hohenzollern (i.e. German), the Danish Royal Family is Oldenburg German, the Spanish Royal Family is Greek and German, the Swedish Royal Family is French... I could go on... In fact, the only royal line that can still claim 'pureblood' status as being that of its nation is Germany (think the current head of the family is Georg). But even his title is stupid (Prinz von Preussen), because Prussia is either in Poland, or the Kaliningrad Oblast.

The Plunk said:
Oh and of course England too as the royal family is actually Norman.
Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude, catch up with the times, man! That's like, so 1500's!! XD

You know what? It is okay to be patriotic. Patriotism is a good thing. However, you are not being patriotic. You are being extremist.
"We will rise again!"
"We are the TRUE British!"
"We have been REPRESSED!"

Do you understand how bat shit insane that sounds? You sound like a Welsh Hitler!
Not only that, you have also dismissed every English guy in this thread as an asshole, even though they clearly aren't making the decisions.
But that's not the only thing you've done that's unreasonable. You have ignored every single well worded counter argument, and reply only to those that you can easily respond to. THAT is why you're being unreasonable; you're not listening to anyone, and it's clear nothing we say will change your mind because you just close your ears. You know what would be reasonable? Not changing the subject, like you did above. I wasn't even referring to the real argument, I was talking about how you're not listening. Another thing that would be reasonable would be to respond to every argument, and shift or change your point of view when evidence is presented.
