I think my passport should say English.
its just an accuracy thing, i am English , which makes me both British and European.
I know why its a British passport and its not something a i care about i just think its inaccurate these days post devolution.

It might tickle me to get a British passport that says 'Canadian' on it.

My dad's a British citizen by being born in the UK to British citizens, so just for being his kid I'm automatically entitled to a British citizenship (and the passport that goes along with it), even though I was born in Canada, have always lived here and have never been in England longer than 10ish days.

Once again, nice and simply: Its not a good idea to teach children, in a language they do not understand.

Sounds one hell of a lot like Quebec.
God damn french.

I'm still hoping for a response to this part.

All I've heard so far is "Rabble rabble the english were mean in the past rabble rabble fuck the english" and conspiracy theories about the past. I get the feeling that he wouldn't be hard to convince that politicians are out to get him personally..

It is threads like this why we can't have nice things. Can we not even tangentially talk about something with going out about crap? While it is just as easy to cling to past beliefs it is also pretty easy to just ignore it and say learn for it and move on. I don't think I've once seen someone change another's view on anything of this regard so I don't see why people still bother. Anyway, at least it seems to be over.

Also knowingly or not N. Ireland was excluded as it isn't part of Britain. That being the reason why it is called the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland but that is just semantics if you want to be precise.

I'm not from the UK, and maybe this makes me a crazy person, but wouldn't that be like specifying your state on an American passport?

Like saying you're Texan rather than American?
Kind of, though probably more like saying which region you're from like the mid-west, east coast etc. Unless you're rather patriotic about your particular country/state then you'd say the state.
To be honest it doesn't really matter, the people I've found to really push the "I'm not British I'm X" usually have a chip on their shoulder about the UK in general.

I'm not partisan enough to care, no.

I'm happy being British, when I can't be European or Human.

Then why live in Wales if you don't want to speak Welsh, as I have said before that is like moving to Germany, France, Japan, Israel, etc and complaining because you have to speak the respective language.

Where's the ''I don't give a damn'' option?
Seriously, I don't mind one way or the other. If I click No, it sounds like I prefer to be called British, if I click Yes it sounds like I don't like being called British.
I don't mind either way,

No. If I want to get technical, I am Scottish. But I have no problem saying I'm British.

So you'd evict 76% of your own population?
Hell, you ever heard anyone from Newcastle?

I'm pretty sure whatever gibberish they speak isn't English, we should kick them out too while we're at it. :D

I'm Irish and from the Republic.... So, no! :p

I think this is really my call to make, to be honest lol

Anyway, I think the OP should be expanded somewhat, maybe put in the politics section.

Interesting debate, though.

Don't be silly, those aren't words!

OT:I honestly don't care. If I put Scottish on my passport (if I had one) people would probably just assume I was a violent drunk.

I'd have Welsh on my passport if I had the choice. I'm proud of being Welsh, not Madcat loopy proud, but proud. That said I have no problems saying I?m British either. I guess the best way to put it would be:

If anybody asks then 99.9% of the time I reply that I'm Welsh. But if someone said "Hey did you see that idiotic thread started by Madcat75 on the Escapist forums?" ....then I?m British...

Depends. If that idiot Alex Salmond gets his way and Scotland becomes independant then all residents of Scotland would have to get new passports with Scottish as a nationality. But it's ok because everyone in Scotland will vote no and Salmond will walk away with his tail between his legs and we can get on with being part of the UK.

Vote no to Scottish independence!

Change my passport? That seems like too much hassle for something so inconsequential. I'm English yeah, but I'm also British so I don't know why being labelled British is a problem.

When Plaid Cymru and Scottish National parties are included in the so called "British Goverment" then I will be happy, how can it be a true British Goverment when nearly everyone in it is English.
The majority of the population live in England so of course most MPs will be English. Sorry buddy that's just the way things are.
